I tried so hard to keep the matting at bay-but failed pretty miserably. With the trip and all the hubbub for the move, Quincy's grooming really got behind, but the mats did not. So, we bit the bullet and brought him in for a cut. The groomer was willing to keep him long and cut out the mats, but he would have been uneven. We opted for an all over, and here is the result.
He is all legs! No wonder he runs so fast! I still like my shaggy boy, but I am resigned that this was a necessary step for the summer and to get all that matting out. sigh.

Finley looks great, too! The vanilla version of Quincy!
VERY CUTE!
Ah, he looks so svelte and gorgeous! I tend to prefer a shorter cut on doodles, though, and that's my personal preference, just as long as they're not cut short on tail, muzzle, legs and ears. Oscar, my 8-1/2 mo. old doodle just went to the groomer yesterday (I should take a picture and post it here) and when the groomer (whom I love) said she may have to cut him shorter due to possible mats, I was totally fine with it. "Do it!", I said. When I went to pick him up, he looked his usual, longer-haired self. The groomer said he had minimal mats, and only in his arm pits and behind his ears, which she cut out. One of these days maybe I'll get her to actually cut him short like Lucy, my 3 yr. old doodle. The short cut not only helps to keep them cool in the Summer, but makes easy work of keeping the matting under control.
grooming will certainly be easier! I am going to try really hard to keep up with him as it grows in.
He is oh so handsome and velvet like :) I bet his hair feels so soft to cuddle up against.
Lori, I think Quincy looks beautiful! His coloring is gorgeous!
He looks so soft, like velvet. Your groomer did a nice job! My guy always likes the clip, hope Quincy does too.
Quincy looks terrific! We joined the "summer cut" club last week when Jackson and Jilly had their turn! Isn't it funny how leggy they look! Last year I fretted endlessly about not going too short, getting just the right length, but I learned that it grows back soo fast that I just started shorter from the start this time! They seem very comfortable with the cut and brushing is easy!
