Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Okay, so we are getting ANOTHER goldendoodle. I never thought I would have 3 big dogs, but with 4 kids who all want to participate in 4H Dog projects, Charlotte's recent health scare, 2 recently adopted kids (a new pup will be as much theirs as everyones - not one more thing they just inherited), and a few other factors, well...here comes another pup.
I will be picking the pup up next week at 9 weeks old. She is a beautiful chocolate with blue eyes.
We have a bunch of names not available due to numerous extended family dogs, rescued dogs, alpacas, and horses. We like names with a southern or literary feel to them. Our current dogs are Charlotte and Webster (Webster's dictionary, Charlotte's Web).
Our short list is: Tessa, Ellie, Ivy, Shelby, Sophie, and Georgia. My husband and oldest (and newest) son are the picky ones - ugh. Hubby likes Magnolia (Maggie).
Any suggestions? What do you think about the names I mentioned? We have 6 people who need to agree and I'm going nuts not knowing her name!!!

Oh, this is so fun. I love Savannah, Magnolia, and I LOVE Petunia! Such unique & pretty names! I also like Belle (as in Southern Belle). If you want a nickname for Savannah, what about Savy? Maggie for Magnolia, Petty for Petunia. You have GREAT choices to choose from...I think you'll love any of them you choose. I do also like Wheezer - I also loved her character in Steel Magnolias. HAVE FUN.
Oh, and just for the record...I already think you're crazy with all those kids and dogs! LOL
Shhh!!! I'm trying not to let myself know that I'm already crazy! The defining moment came when I realized that we could be a reality show: 4 kids adopted from 3 countries, inlaws are missionaries in Peru, sisters family living in finished downstairs, 4 dogs and a chicken who thinks she's a dog and wants in the house. I keep chanting "I AM normal, I'm NOT crazy, I AM normal, I'm NOT crazy". :-)
Thank you and I return the admiration :-) My husband found our chicken wandering around a Costco parking lot ???? (no, we don't live in the boonies!) and brought her home. He went to buy me roses and came home with a Rhode Island Red we named Rosie. We don't have a chicken coop so she sleeps in a dog crate in the house at night. The dogs love her and she leaves us a lovely brown egg every day. I don't recommend chickens but our Rosie is the exception
Jennifer you need to send your story to a TV producer! My cousin has 8 children 6 natural and 2 adopted, home schools them all, trains puppies for service work, has chickens, dogs, birds, and on and on.... You are both amazing!
As for names, I didn't see Bell as in a "Southern Bell" on anyone's list. My mom's name is Beatrice and goes by Bea, but I remember reading mystery books as a kid where the main character was named Beatrix and was called Trixie. They were the Trixie Belden books. Trixie has always been high on my list of girl names if I ever get a girl pup.
Thank your for your kind words. Bell is a great name but my parents had a Bell. I too am a Trixie Belden fan (I still have a bunch of her books and am trying to get my 13 yr old daughter interested) but hubby nixed the name Trixie.
I like Roxy or Lola.
