I just reread your last comment and realized I didn't answer some of your questions. Oscar DOES still need one potty break at night. His older sister, Lucy often comes down from the bedroom, where she sleeps, at all hours of the morning for a drink of water. That, invariably, wakes Oscar up and then he whines till we let him out for a potty break. He'd still wake (later though) for a break without Lucy's interfering, but she doesn't help. Think we'll start putting a water bowl in the bedroom :)

Every morning when I let Oscar out of his his crate the first thing I think, is, "Oscar looks bigger!" He seems to visibly grow right before my eyes! I bathed him yesterday and he is not a bit fat. Not skinny either.  He certainly is not as big as he appears with his long coat. He looks so roly poly when he walks with his hair bouncing to and fro with each stride. Unfortunately, I find a LOT of long hairs on my clothes, and I can only hope he sheds less when his adult coat comes in. Right now I find those long hairs EVERYWHERE.

Fonzie is adorable too, and he looks like he'll be a tall fella as he matures. Its fun seeing them grow into adults. Lucy looks nothing like she did as a puppy. I can only imagine what Oscar will look like. As long as he retains his easy going, lovable temperament I'll be happy!

Hi Heidi, it was nice hearing about Fonzie's progress. Our 2 doods sound very close in weight. Oscar was the 'smallest male' of his litter and as small as the smaller females... the reason why the breeder thought he'd max out at 40lbs. Plus, his parents were 45lbs and 55lbs (mom and dad, respectively). His male litter mates were huge, comparatively, and I really wish I knew the new owners so we could compare notes. I wonder if Oscar got some errant gene or if all the males will be big. Anyway.... it sounds like Fonzie is having a great winter in the snow. Oscar's not seen any, on the ground anyway. A few flurries, but that's it. We don't allow the dogs free reign outside. Its far too wet and muddy in our yard this time of year. I live in Portland, and its been one of the wettest seasons on record, plus we live on an incline and our backyard gets runoff from the church parking lot behind us. We've got large pavers from our patio to the graveled side yard to keep from sinking in (and never to be seen again! ..lol). So, we go for walks on the nicer days and the 2 doods have each other for exercise on the other days. Oh, and there's puppy romps for Oscar and Doodle Romps for Lucy occasionally. It was good to hear from you. Let's touch base again soon!

Hi Heidi! How old is Fonzie now and how much does he weigh? Oscar turned 16 weeks yesterday and weighed 29.4 lbs. As he gets older he's looking less and less like Fonzie, probably because he's a labradoodle and has got more of a 'lab' build. His chest is about the width of our Lucy's chest and she's 3 yrs old! Of course, Lucy has more of a poodle build, which explains a lot. Love the new pics of Fonzie, btw. He sure is a looker!

Heidi, Fonzie is adorable, and I can't get over how much he looks like my Oscar (12 weeks today). Oscar is a standard multi-gen labradoodle, though. I mentioned to your reply to my discussion on Puppy Madness about BIG puppies, that we should stay in touch and compare notes through the coming months. I don't know about you, but we were expecting a SMALL doodle this time (40lbs max, full grown). The breeder was way off on that estimate and its looking like Oscar is going to be more in the 60-70 lb. range. His paws are HUGE and his ears are so long he often chews on them! Oh, btw, Fonzie was my older doodle, Lucy's, father's name - and Lucy is Oscar's half aunt (for what its worth).
