Or a benign growth or so we hope.  I had noticed that last week Rooney was licking, licking, licking his own mouth and upon further examination I saw that smack in the middle of his adorable little bottom lip there was a pink little bump.  I thought that maybe he had pricked himself or gotten stung while outside.  The licking stopped but the bump was getting larger, still small but bigger than it was.  We saw the vet today and she thinks that it is mostly likely benign given his age.  A histiocytoma appears suddenly and often times will go away over time.  She took a photo of it for his file and I am going to watch it to see if it continues to grow.  If it grows then we will have it removed or if it is still there in 2 months time.  This would require Rooney being put under and a tube down his throat - so not without some risk.  I feel comfortable waiting - do you guys think I'm doing the right thing taking the very slight chance it could be cancerous.

Lucy had one diagnosed by the vet when she was about just over a year old.  It was right in the corner of her eye by her nose.  I have pics, but can't seem to find them.  She said it would go away and sure enough it did.
Oh I just love to hear this!!!!

At this point waiting and watching is also how I would handle it...because you trust your Vet, my Vet I would need another opinion. That's right I still don't like my Vet and am still looking.

DD's dog had a little pink bump on her ear, she still has it, never grew and never went away. Their Vet said it's a watch and see and it truly was, it's been over 2 years now.

I had a bulldog who had one on the back of his hip - got sort of large and actually bled quite a bit- very ugly. I needed A LOT of reassurance from the vet that it was benign and that it would go away  by itself, which it did in about 3 months. Anesthesia can be very dangerous for bulldogs so we just visited the vet frequently and waited it out..
Yes, I would be comfortable waiting because this stuff is usually minor and works itself out.  Also you and the vet ARE watching it for changes.
Billy had one on his lower lip. Just a little round growth.  We told the Vet to remove it when he was under for his dental. No results from the biopsy yet but glad it was removed .

Rua just wants Rooney to know that WHATEVER it is, she will always love him and be there to take care of him.  No matter what.  Her love is unconditional.

Hi Jane...

I'm so sorry that poor Rooney and you are going through this...

I have to agree with some of the others...and if you are comfortable with your Vet...I would wait and watch...

Of course...keeping a watchful eye yourself.

Hoping it goes away over time.

Hugs and Prayers for Rooney...

I hope it goes away soon. Chloe has one on her leg and we've been watching it. Since we took her in he said "watch it" NO! TELL ME WHAT IT IS!!!!!!! He said it doesn't seem like anything to worry about but if it gets bigger take her in. Well, we're still worried! We check it everyday. Good luck Rooney!!!
Snickers had one near his eyelid.  We just let it be it got pretty big and mushroom like and then one day it fell off. He has not had any issues since it was pretty gross but harmless.
Could you get your vet to do a biopsy on it, as this can be done with a local anaesthetic. Then, at least you'll know for sure to put your minds at rest
Wishing the best outcome.
