I honestly do other things besides post on DoodleKisses. Today, we went to training classes for both dogs and I am going to the movies in an hour with my daughter. On the way to class, I was thinking of things we could do tonight if we actually lose our power. Feel free to add any other ideas. Hopefully, people print this out and memorize prior to losing their power and have some things to do in the next few days if they get caught in the dark.

1)  Give each other haircuts just for laughs and when the lights come back on, take pictures of the results for the annual Holiday card!

2) Play Hand games by candlelight. (Keep it clean, people)

3) Eat M&M's

4) Drink Wine, Not Coffee!!

5) Light a candle and work on some Dog training. Try a new command like, "Fetch!"

6) Make up silly games. For example: What is one of the dumbest tattoos you could imagine?

7) Get the duct tape out of the emergency kit and play Project Runway.

8) Or take it one step further....

9) Include your dogs in all the fun, so they do not feel stressed!

10) If you are starting to get cabin fever and posting goofy stuff on DK, lie down and take a cat nap.

Oh my gosh, I almost forgot.....if all else fails, get romantic!

But, not too romantic:

HAHAHA!!!!

By the way, we live on a creek and when we get this much rain...well, it is pretty scary what happens to our normally peaceful little valley--lots of water comes through the creek and often through our yard and basement. If the power goes out, we lose the sump pumps in the basement--that is VERY bad and we have to call the fire company to be pumped out--ugh! Can't wait until this is over--the suspense is killing me! (The storm will reach us in upstate NY about 6 hours.) My house has been here for over 200 years, though, so that is comforting--

So, I guess if the power goes out, my answer is that I will be hanging out with a lot of cute firemen! And their wives! (Our firefighters are volunteers and the wives and husbands are all firefighters!)

I have a brook behind my house too. My sump pump will work if the natural gas stays on for the back up generator. Doesn't it seem like we've been awaiting this storm for a month?
F, I am hoping everything is ok with you. Keep us posted.
See new post, you OK?
I wrote this and then read your post. We are fine.
F -- That is the worst part of hurricanes, is you get so much notice that they are coming that it seems like forever.  The year we had 4 in one season in Fl, we were still in lock down for one when they started talking about the next one forming.  I thought I was going to go crazy.  Stay safe.
Thanks, so far so good and I think, aside from river flooding, the worst is over here.
Good luck, Ginny. I hope your basement stays dry. Keep us posted!
1 and 8 seem like great ideas! lol
Even if your power isn't out, Camilla, you could probably try both of these..LOL!!!
I will be thinking about all of you as this storm goes through.  I hope everyone makes it without any problems and that the basements stay dry.  The pictures of the dogs with their hurricane supplies are adorable.
