Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Since this is a helpful forum, I have a designed a useful checklist for dog owners.  Don't try and beat me to the Patent Office on this one.  I am sure not everyone needs this simple checklist, but there are plenty of others, ok maybe four, probably just one who resides with me some that do.  No names will be given to protect the guilty, and I most certainly do not want to embarrass my husband anyone on this forum. This is strictly a to do list before bedtime for those of us with dogs, married to people who come to bed last without a thought for others sleeping or watching Person of Interest care in the world.  For most of us it is self explanatory.

 Nightly Checklist

Last person to come to bed should do the following:

  • Make sure the dogs have clean water in their bowl.
  • Take the dogs out to go potty.
  • Give the dogs a treat when they come in from outside.
  • Turn off all the lights and lock the door.
  • Stop pretending you are asleep when none of this is done.

DUH!!!

I was so excited to hand this helpful list to someone (again, no names, so this person can remain anonymous) who sleeps in my bed I know and was sure it would be well received and welcomed. The recipient read it, and then mentioned where he thought the perfect location was to stick it keep the list and ended with a DUH. I think a little tweaking may be in order, but I think this is really going to help. Let me know what you think!

BG, I do have turn off all the lights and lock the door. The only time he locks the door is when I leave the house..LOL!! Luckily, I have a key :) We have never turned down our furnace at night...good idea...and I love the rub my back one. Added!

Don't you guys have automatic thermostats?

Actually, as my mother would say, we have some darn new-fangled thermostat that Einstein couldn't figure out on his own. It is all programmable and my DH has some program set up. The few times I have tried to mess with it, it never does what I want and I refuse to read the manual. I complain all the time that I just want the old kind where I move the lever up or down. If BG wants me to add that to the list, I will :)

I knew my DB would have one, a man after my own heart. Now he just has to automate your list.

LOL..I still hate that thermostat!  How I long for the good old days :)

Oh, boy--this is so accurate! I just did all these things while my DH sleeps---except for locking the door--we live in the sticks a safe area.... Now, I must add that there is also a MORNING list--that includes getting the dogs outside (and I guess all of you have to unlock the doors first for that one) and making the dogs their breakfast. My DH and I are retired and he sleeps later then me EVERY day in order to avoid the morning list....

Ginny, It is funny because he does the morning stuff great and he is not a morning person, but he does it all before work. Go figure! LOL

Well, DH does take Darwin out every night, and does so happily. The reason? I told him I was too scared to go outside at night by myself, even with a total wimp big brave dog like Darwin. The most pathetic part about it is that I'm not lying... I really am too scared. LOL! To be fair we go to bed pretty late... :-)

OK, tomorrow I am telling him I am too scared to take the dogs out at night. The funny thing is I am not scared up here at all. When we first moved to the sticks I couldn't get over how dark it was up here...no street lights, etc. Now, I don't even notice it UNLESS I have just finished an episode of Criminal Minds :)  It is nice of your DH to take Darwin out at night. He is a keeper :)

We live in a super safe neighborhood too. Actually THE safest neighborhood. LOL

In 2005 and 2007, Morgan Quitno declared the Logan metropolitan area the safest in the United States.[6]

So really I'm just a big baby. And DH is very nice to do it for me. :-)

Yes he is but he gets all those home baked treats.

True... :-)
