Tripped over my dood while running....I think I broke my nose!

Well, Murphy and I headed out for a nice calm walk/run this morning. Just a perfect day, sun shining, light breeze, could hear the ocean waves breaking on the shore. Good day for a run. We haven't run for a few weeks so we both were really having fun, when all of a sudden, Mr. Murphy decides he wants to be on the right side instead of the left where he ALWAYS is.
Hardly EVER crosses in front and especially not while we're running. So....being the graceful runner that I am, I avoid stomping on my dear doodle and before I know it I come face to face with shell-rock pavement !!! Hitting and scraping both knees, hands, elbows and left shoulder, while taking most of the force with my NOSE! Yeah, did I say graceful? Total face plant!
After I assessed my injuries, tried to feel if I still had all my teeth, and if I could get up, I realized Murphy was sitting right by my side....as close as he could get. Not running away, not playing with his leash, not even going for the bag of liver treats I was carrying. It was so sweet. Made me just love him more cuz I know he was feeling something. Not sure what, but it was nice to have a friend by your side when you are hurting so bad.

Well, after about 8 hours of ice packs, 4 Motrin, 2 Cosmopolitans and some ice cream, I think I'm okay. I look like Rocky Balboa after 9 rounds....but what the heck....I have my doodle!!!! And he loves me!
PS. Pretty sure the nose isn't broken, but it I'll know more when the swelling goes down some.

Oh goodness that sounds painful!!! Glad you're okay...Murphy Murphy Murphy...what a caring little pup...hopefully he realizes that he shouldn't run in front of you too ;-)

The closest I've ever come to this was bending over to pick up a ball right as Thule jumped up and bonked me on the cheekbone with her hard head. It HURT more than I'd thought it would. Scared me too! But nothing like falling on your nose----OOOOUCH!

You guys are just the best. Thanks for all the great support. Yes, I think bungee jumping would be less dangerous as long as I don;t have Murphy jump with me! And Nancy...too funny! I bet Ned would at least offer you one too!
Feeling better today, quite swollen and the bridge of my nose has a pretty big gash in it from the sunglasses. Can feel my front teeth again and can just about breathe out of one nostril....so things are looking up. Another day of ice and we might be ready to run again.....with a gentle leader!!!!

Poor you!!! That must have been awful!!! We're all hoping you have a speedy recovery! Zoey and Sammy say their son is grounded until he can learn not to cross in front of you!

Yes, I agree! One that it was awful and Two that his parents should ground him. He's been pretty grounded for the last 24 hours anyway because I can barely sit up let alone go for a walk since I did this. Maybe a swim in the pool will be enough exercise for him today.

Ooh, I am cringing just thinking about it. OUCH. I think ibuprofen is the best OTC drug ever invented. Hope you're feeling better by the minute!

Ouch, I know the feeling, 2 years ago i tripped over my dog, and broke my arm.!!!!....what a nightmare that was, but a nose is there for all to see, but at least your Murph, stayed right by you, and loves you, so the nose will heal, and the knees will heal, although I am sure tomorrow u will feel like you were run over by a Mac Truck...Ice and war soaks should help, take care and heal quickly...I do feel your pain...

I hope you're feeling better today. Halas crosses in front of me once in awhile, but not very often, and only when we're walking. I'm sure if I tried to run with him, I'd trip over him, even if he stayed exactly where he was supposed to. That's great that Murphy stayed with you. I wonder if he realizes he made you fall. Or if he just thinks, "Wow, my mommy is kind of a klutz. But her liquid medicine does seem to be making her feel better."

Well today is a little better, but yes this morning I did feel like I've been hit by a MAC truck or at least a baseball bat. Nose is swollen and left eye is purple and getting darker by the hour. It's 730 here now and after a walk on the beach with a girlfriend and both our doodles and then a few jumps in the pool, I'm feeling much better. Oh, did I mention the 2 glasses of wine and some cheese and crackers.....
The only real good thing about all this is that DH is out of town and missing all the fun.

Okay, We started running again yesterday, with a gentle leader and very gingerly. Murphy did great and I even managed to stay vertical the whole time! Nose is so much better and today is the first day I can look forward to not using ice all day. I look like a fall leaf. Pretty reds, oranges, muted greens with some spashes of purples and browns to ad to the effect. Too bad it;s not Oct 31st. i could go as tree! Thank you for all your great comments and support.
