He will not be euthanized tomorrow. That's the first date that he could be euthanized, as it's the end of the "hold" period. But he won't be. It's also the first date that he will be available for adoption. I have a feeling he will be adopted very quickly, but DRC has been notified anyway.
thanks for notifying them, i heard that center is very bad.. im very worried about him
He's adorable. Beautiful. I know he will be warming the heart of someone who needs him just as much as he needs them- soon
I hope Hunter is adopted soon.
There has to be other shelters/rescues around, why would someone drop a dog off there in the first place? I have no doubt Hunter will be adopted very soon and probably has people lining up at the door wanting him. The other poor doggies, not so much. This breaks my heart. The first dog I adopted was a golden retriever, that was going to be destroyed that day. No one wanted him because he was 85lbs. He was 85lbs of pure love.
Donna, he's fine. Today's date just signifies the end of the "hold" period. In public shelters, there is a "hold" period" (which varies from state to state) during which they cannot put a stray dog up for adoption or euthanize him, in order to give the owner a chance to reclaim him. I'm not sure what happened in Hunter's case, he was apparently picked up as a stray and it appears that then the owners were located, possibly through his microchip, but the owner was unable to pick him up due to illness. Now that his hold period is up, he will be temperament tested and if he passes that test, he'll be available for adoption. If the shelter has to euthanize dogs due to being overcrowded (which is common in A/C facilities and public kill shelters) , they will start with the dogs they consider least adoptable. Hunter is probably the most adoptable dog they have right now, judging by the photos in the link, so unless he attacks someone, he's safe. Jacquie has been in communication with the shelter director, and they anticipate a LOT of people lining up to get first crack at him. DRC will be notified if his situation really does become urgent, and we'll get him out. Thank you for offering to help with that, I hope it doesn't become necessary.
He looks like a wonderful dog. I wish I could help. Will someone please update this when you find out that he has a new home?
I believe he was adopted the first day he was available. :)
