Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hello all!

I know that most of our doodles do not shed but for those of us that have ones that do -- can anyone recommend a good vacuum cleaner that picks up the hair? Mine is about to die and I want to make sure I get one that does the job!

Thanks-
Shannon

For those with the Dyson - do you feel it's too heavy? My friend has one and claims it's really difficult for her to lug up and down stairs.

I'm having our Hoover fixed at Best Buy right now (the hose broke...I can't believe I'm actually having a vacuum fixed) - we had the service plan on it. I have been vacuum-less for 2 weeks and our house is not looking pretty!
We have the Dyson "animal" and it's not that it's heavy--I just find it awkward to carry upstairs. There's no true "handle" on it. Regardless, I love it and am amazed at how much hair it picks up! The hose on it is fabulous for reaching into all the nooks and crannies that catch/hide hair globs! LOL Gaston-Cramer doesn't shed at all but two of our 4 dogs shed like there is no tomorrow and I'd be living in fur balls without it!

We also have a Kirby G4 and love it too but it's far too heavy for me. I grab for the Dyson all the time.
I LOVE my Dirt Devil red one....very inexpensive, powerful, and even light weight! I got a great price on it at Target.
Dyson all the way. I got mine on Ebay, new in the box with the warranty. I love it. When it dies I will certainly be getting another.
Well got one from Home Depot (Hoover Pet Legacy) and I am so happy with it (and a bit disgusted by what it pulled up) -- apparently mine was not working as well I as thought for longer than I thought...

Thanks to everyone for their recommendations!

I have a Beam Serenity central vac. Great system for everything. Our Maine Coon cat, not our goldendoodle is the fur ball in our house.
I have the dyson pet also, more convenient and easier to handle than the central vac system. wish the container was bigger though.
Sounds like a Dyson runaway. I have carpeting in my bedroom only, the rest of the house has laminate flooring so my big question is - how does the Dyson do on laminate? I currently have an Oreck that needs to be serviced and wondering if I should just chuck it and go for the Dyson. The Oreck doesn't do well on "bare floors".
My mom has three shedding dogs in her house, and swears by the Dyson Animal. Says it has changed her life. They are a bit pricey, but maybe worth it if you have a lot of hair. Our dog sheds very little, and we find that our Roomba does a fine job. The dog likes it, too, she follows it around and tries to outmaneuver it... very funny.
I like the Dyson Animal, I especially like the idea of not having to buy filters, bags, or belts.
Interesting thread, because we were just looking at Dyson vacuums over the week-end. I think we'd got for the Dyson Canister style Animal if we got one. Pricey, but apparently well worth it.
I love my Dyson. We have a golden doodle, labradoodle, cats and two girls with long hair and I highly recommend the Dyson. The initial outlay is expensive but it really does a great job
