Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi guys! I was looking through the pictures, and all these doodles have different cuts! I keep my doodle really short because she acts like a piece of velcro and brings in all sorts of pine needles and leaves when she's got long fur.

Is there a "doodle" way to groom? Or is it really just anything goes? Post a picture of your favorite cut on your dog!

Here's Sunny after she got groomed yesterday:

It is a bit of anything goes. And depends on the type of coat your dog has. A super curly doodle is never going to look like the shaggy doodles (and vice versa) no matter the cut. So you just have to find something you and your groomer agree on. Have you checked out our Grooming Group? Awesome info there!
I love this cut on my dog, actually, I was just wondering if there was really a standard way to cut a doodle since a lot of doodles are the shaggier type cut. I'll check out the Grooming Group! I keep forgetting that there are groups here too- it's great!
LOVE this and had forgotten about it!
Sunny is adorable! I tend to keep Callie long in the winter and short in the summer. I've just started to get brave about trimming her face myself. Callie's coat seems pretty similar to Callie's and I agree...VELCRO. Callie can bring in an astonishing amount of foliage. We had a playdate over last night and it was pouring rain...I had nothing but wet dog, leaves, and pinestraw all over the house!
She is adorable!! She looks like she has pigtails!
My very favorite way to keep Darwin is long and shaggy, but not so long that he starts looking like a powder puff. This is pretty close to ideal for me.

I love all of the different hairstyles and lengths on our doodles, it makes them so much more interesting and unique!
Aw, she looks like a golden Snoopy! I love it.

P.S. If you want to join the Doodles with Short Hair group, I am hoping to compile short hair-do tips and ideas there.
Snoopy wasn't a BEAGLE he was a DOODLE!! All this time I know now why I LOVED Snoopy so much... HUGE collection!
Ha! I totally agree!!
I love that! Sunny looks like a smaller version of him, only with less curly fur and longer ears in proportion to her tiny head haha! But Sunny is a mini.
I do my own grooming and I take Gracie Doodle that short all the time. Right now she is sort of long and shaggy...if you can call 1"-2" long! Sunny's cut is just like the way I usually do Gracie (mostly in the summer) and the ears are fantastic. But the head is wrong. She needs to have her poofer back and then they should blend it into the ears. Also a little more on the snout and maybe the eyes. I like the shaggy look in the face and the little tuft of hair on the bridge of the nose. But, all of it is a personal preference and what works for you. So many groomers make our Doodles look like a Poodle in the face by shaving too much and making it all too perfect. Keep it a little more shaggy. Sunny looks very much like Gracie and they have the same ears. Gracie has a wavy fleece coat and it is not very thick. Velcro...YES. Sunny is absolutely gorgeous regardless!!

Oh I hope I didn't hurt any feelings or sound too critical. I was only trying to be constructive since that is what Michael asked for. He wants to know what a Doodle cut should look like. I did the professional groomer for two years and Gracie too has had that same haircut. That is now why I do my own grooming.

Michael...please forgive me if I offended you. Sunny is an absolute love and I see so much of Gracie in her. Just go and look at photos on different member's pages to get a feel for what look you want and like. As someone said, a lot of it is dictated by the type of coat your Doodle has. No matter how hard we try we can't get a look that another Doodle may have because of the coat. Also, go check out the Grooming Group. We post tons of photos there. Kisses to Sunny!
