My mini GD puppy is scheduled to arrive at Laguardia airport tomorrow afternoon at 5:00pm

This storm we're having is already making me a nervous doodle parent!
He's flying from Toronto to Chicago O'Hare, lays over for two hours - then to LGA NY.

I really hope he makes it as he's a bday surprise for my wife, and her bday happens to be tomorrow also :-/

Oh my doodle, I don't think this will happen and I hope not. I really think many if not all flights will be cancelled and you don't want your pup in Chicago or someplace overnight. I hope you cancel and have your pup's arrival delayed.
Boy O Boy! It is going to be below freezing all day in Chicago and down to the teens by nightfall. What provisions does the airline make for pets in the cargo hold? I'd be nervous too. I thought there were weather temp limits to loading pets, not only from the departing city but the layover and arriving city. I know that was the case with my two doodles being flown.

But im sure the breeder wouldn;t send the pup if it werent safe. Good luck tomorrow, but I agree with F, it would be better to wait. Happy Birthday to your wife
Wishing and hoping for some clearing and acceptable flying weather! Keep us posted!

Larry, Why don't you postpone your puppy's travel plans for another day when the forecast isn't so horrible? There's an excellent chance that even if the first leg of the trip is permitted to go, the connecting flight from Chicago to New York will almost certainly be cancelled. Your new baby will very likely be stranded, and that is certainly not want you want, nor would it be what your wife would want. From what I remember reading, you've had your heart set on surprising her on her birthday, but the intelligent thing to do (IMO) would be to wait until storm passes and it's safe for your pup to fly. My daughter was scheduled to travel to New York tonight and return on Friday, and yesterday she cancelled her plans. Additionally, I have a friend staying with me in Florida who was supposed to fly back to Boston tomorrow, and she changed her plans for after the storm concludes. Please reevaluate your decision.

You could always delay and wrap up a pet tag with his name on it in a jewelry box or something. That way you could still manage a bit of a surprise though you didn't actually physically have him there with you. Having a puppy stranded overnight in the airport would make me a nervous wreck

Is there a way you can delay? It won't be fun with all the snow.

It is unsafe to have him shipped at this time IMO and you should call your breeder and get it delayed.  Geesh, now I am worried about the little guy :(

Gggrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!

Everything is cancelled till Saturday!!!!!
What a bummer!!!!!!

Kinda ruined my plans for the whole week!

Anyone know how long the drive to Toronto is????
Too long in the weather we are getting shortly.

I am so sorry your plans have been changed, but I am sure it is a comfort to know your puppy will be safe and warm in a home he knows instead of cold in a strange place during arguably the most difficult and traumatic transition of his life already.

Blessing in disguise! Just think of the poor little guy, stuck in a cold damp cage all alone. You and your wife will have in your arms soon enough.
Driving from New York to Toronto is about 6 and a half hours but with the snow factor in a little more. I have done the drive from Montreal to New York (which is about the same distance) with a dog more times than I can count. It's not bad at all. Get yourself an audiobook to listen to and you're good to go! I highly recommend it. :)
