My mini GD puppy is scheduled to arrive at Laguardia airport tomorrow afternoon at 5:00pm

This storm we're having is already making me a nervous doodle parent!
He's flying from Toronto to Chicago O'Hare, lays over for two hours - then to LGA NY.

I really hope he makes it as he's a bday surprise for my wife, and her bday happens to be tomorrow also :-/

Larry, your puppy is too cute! Thanks for sharing his photos, especially the one with your wife and the puppy. It's a beautiful picture and you have obviously made her very happy. I have to say, reading though this thread that some of the comments you received were harsh and they surprised me, but you are a patient and caring guy. You handled the judgey comments very graciously.

Wishing you and your wife a lifetime of happiness with Oliver! (Love his name.)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Rosella T, when you are with us for any length of time, you will often be surprised, and often feel as though some are being "judgey", but much more often, you will feel the love and compassion and true caring qualities of this site. Sometimes we all write something that comes out sideways, or offends, this is just the nature of the internet, and yes, Larry was very gracious and took it as the caring concern in which it was intended. Do stick around though, these are ALL really great doodle people here! Happy Valentines Day!!

Aw thank you so much for your considerate reply. I am new and was afraid of Larry getting ganged up on but this does seem to be a lovely little corner of the internet and I definitely will stick around. I received a very warm welcome when I introduced myself and was so touched by the number of people that gave me great advice. I appreciate it very much. It's been 17 years since I had a puppy so I am looking forward to sharing the experience with all of you.

(Sorry I only noticed your reply today. I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day! I spent mine in London far away from my valentine but I will be home in less than 3 weeks and getting my puppy right away so I simply cannot wait!!!)

I think all comments were made with a very strong concern for the well-being of that puppy. I also think many members went above and beyond trying to help pull that puppy in Chicago if he got stuck there. All I saw was a great community trying to make sure that puppy arrived safely and soundly to Larry. You have no idea how many of us were working behind the scenes for a good outcome. Yes, it is a passionate bunch and things get said, but if you are on here long enough, you will see those strong words are always motivated by what is best for a dog in need.

Laurie, Thanks for explaining the caring nature of this group with such eloquence. This discussion, like no other, had my attention and concern working in overdrive. In reflecting upon my own comments, I tried throughout the entire saga to express my thoughts and my intentions as carefully and articulately as possible. Perhaps I was not as tactful as I could have been. From the minute I saw Larry's original post, my gut instinct went into high alert, almost screaming to myself that this story in which we were all so engaged might not have a happy ending, and that's why I spoke out early and clearly. I value this community so much, and I hope that everyone participating realizes that we are, indeed, a thoughtful group - always keeping the best interests of the doodles in the forefront of our thoughts.

Well said, both Lauries!

Amen.

Laurie, This has certainly not been the first time someone has reacted strongly about something that hit a nerve. It won't be the last. There have been more than one discussion on "being nice", but sometimes there is no good way to say some things that need to be said. I think we resolved it beautifully.

Ditto, Karen: "Well said, both Lauries!" Please remember that this discussion started before Oliver was shipped.  A lot of us here in the Northeast in the middle of an awful storm had strong and valid concerns about the safety of the puppy.  We hoped for a happy ending but also knew it could have a tragic outcome. Once the deed was done, DK did what it always does - we rallied together to help. It's amazing that people -many who have never met each other -- will drop what they are doing and come to your aid. I value the friends that I have made on this site - both two legged and four legged --and I value their honesty and their experience.  When we react strongly it's because of genuine concern. I think everyone of us breathed a big sigh of relief that Oliver, Larry, and his friend arrived home safely.

I agree with you and Laurie totally.

So true Cheryl, best site on the Internet and for sure the BEST people anywhere!

I totally agree Laurie!
