Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi I just got our golden doodle puppy.   She about 15 weeks old.   My Holistic Health Vet is telling me to start her on raw food.  She said it is much better for a dog.   Please if any one has your doodle on raw food please let me know what you think.

You really should go to the food group.

Yeah Sharon. Come join us in the Food Group! Lots and Lots of Good feeding information in the group.
There is a group where people feed raw. Not something I'm particularly advocating, mind you.

I feed kibble to my dogs. I feel that a good quality kibble has all of the nutrients and works for most dogs and is easy to measure calorie-wise.
I feed my Gracie Doodle Acana Grain Free and it works for us! I found it through the Food Group and with helpful advice.
Some people feed raw, some people cook for their dogs, and other use a kibble. As mentioned raw is not for everyone. It's really something you should do your own research on and decide what you think is best -- it's a pretty hotly debated topic (online) from what I've seen. There is a cooking group, a raw group and the food group tends more towards discussing kibble (though not entirely).

I, personally, am a fan of moderation. I just recently switched foods and I plan on giving my girls some raw -- raw bones, raw organ meat as treats -- and a high quality kibble and some other treats for chewing and training. I'm also looking for an Omega supplement to add to their food. After a good deal of reading on the Food Group and gaining some better understanding of nutrition and the problems of lower quality ingredients in most dog foods I switched to Taste of the Wild. I picked TOTW because it is one of the most affordable of the highly rated dog foods and I can buy it around here. It was just a few dollars more then what I was paying and worlds better ingredients. There are several dog food review sites that I used, in addition to reading and asking questions here. These review kibble only, though.

The Food group here has several very well informed members and there are a LOT of questions that have already been asked with a wealth of information.
The group leader of the Food Group, Karen, started a new posting just yesterday of kibbles we are recommending (based on current recall list and success of our members). Check it out!!!

I personally feed the Fromm 4-Starr line...
