Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi guys! New to doodlekisses and learning a lot of great tips about my first doodle that comes home December 9th! I have some pictures attached, and would like opinions on what you think her adult coat would look like.  I know its early to tell certain things (she's only 5 weeks in the photos) but I think I already see the "upside down V" forming on her face if someone can confirm this? And her puppy fuzz seems pretty straight, not a lot of wave going on.   She's an F1, her mommy is a standard white poodle, and her dad is a dark red golden retriever.

If your goldendoodle looked like her as a puppy I'd love to see some grown up photos!

Meet Brooklyn!

Thanks for any help!

Oh! How cute she is!! She will definitely not be curly but could end up with lots of big shaggy wave--see the discussion on the main forum about the 6 month old pup--the title is "introducing Meg and Me" --very similar to yours and you will see some photos and opinions. See those ripples on her ears? A sign of things to come! But the mystery won't be solved for quite some time now--their color change and the coat goes thru a few changes before they settle into an adult coat. Enjoy the mystery! I would guess also that she will be an apricot doodle--not as dark as she is now.

It's really funny how unpredictable doodles are, I guess thats half the fun! I can't wait to watch her grow, just a few more weeks!

First of all, welcome to DoodleKisses, the best website around for doodle lovers everywhere.  I see you have jumped right it and that is great.  We love seeing a puppy growing up on DK and I am sure we will see plenty of your darling little Brooklyn.  My first doodle (the one who got me started) was a smooth-haired puppy.  His hair never curled, but it was long and wavy.  I hated cutting his coat, but after an incident on the trails at Ft. Ord, I decided he needed a shave.  (You can see some photos on my page of him a little older.)  He was an F1 and his mother was a golden lab and his father a black standard poodle.  I also have a F1b goldendoodle and an ALD (Australian Labradoodle).  Hondo, my original doodle, had health problems and died at 7 years old (2 years ago) but has always held a very special place in my heart.  You are entering a very special world and enjoy the trip!

Thank you, I'm definitely learning a lot from this site, i'm so new to all of this, it's nice to learn from others experiences!  I think she's going to go the "muppet" route that I see from a lot of doodles, all that fur, she's gonna be so cute!  I'm sorry about Hondo :( I lost my mutt Ginger when I was 19 after growing up with her since I was 5, still the worst day of my life

My Sedona is a multigenerational labradoodle, so her look was a bit more predictable than an F1.  That being said, she went through so many different looks on her way to adulthood.  At times her coat was nearly red (like her daddy's), then it lightened to almost chalk (like her mommy's), but it finally settled on a light apricot.

Anyway, welcome to DK.  Brooklyn is adorable!!  Enjoy!!!

The phases Brooklyn goes through is going to be so fun to watch! It's so funny how unpredictable doodles are.  It should be interesting if she goes through a darker phase since her dad is so dark.

Whatever she looks like she will be cute, just look at her!

I am not familiar with your statement about the "V" what exactly is that and what is it referring to?

Thank you!

The upside down V, is the proof of her beard/mustache early on.  Smooth coated doodles will never have a V

Thanks for all the replies! I can't wait to see how she turns out and I'm so eager and excited! The upside down v is a sign of her mustache :)

She's adorable!

Thank you!  Just a few short weeks until I hold her in my arms!

She is beautiful, I am 100 % positive that she will stay that way ;) ! I agree with Ginny, I think she prob wont have curls, but looking at her ears.. I think she will have some whispys and doodly waves. Their coats do change so much and so often.. as you've read over and over =) It is super hard to predict, but, allot of fun guessing and looking at others cute pics along the way! This site is so much fun and super helpful with ANY question you ever have! Glad you are here! I'm attaching a few pics so you can see Doc's coat progression. He is a F1B LD. At 3 wks (the first time we saw him) he had a wavy face/ears but his body was a little more straight than wavy fleece. Recently he has gotten very wavy! Congrats to you!
