What's In a Name? If You Changed Your Dog's Name, What Would It Be??

I know no one is going to change their dog's name, because a lot of thought went into the name you picked for your dog. I have noticed that a couple of dogs on DK now have aliases, so it got me thinking and I decided to post this question. If you were forced to change your dog's name, what would you chose this time around?

 

I was in the huge minority when I picked Fudge's name, but I still love it. My sister went on and on for days that it sounded too much like another word and would not let it drop. Luckily, I never listen to her and it annoyed me enough that I was sure my puppy would be named Fudge. I might even have told her to "fudge off".  If I was forced to change her name, this time around I would go with Penny (because of her color) or Cookie (because I love the food names).

Vern's name was chosen by my husband and it fits him so perfectly. Know what I mean, Vern? It is actually Vernors after the Midwest Ginger Ale. However, it I had to change it, maybe Harland (after Colonel Sanders, because it reminds me of chicken and Vern is a big chicken) or Mac (which could be short for Macaroni or Mack Truck). I also love Noodle, but that was vetoed by my DH.

Man, it was so hard for us to pick Darwin's name! I am really obsessive about naming things I guess, because I have large lists of potential baby names and we aren't even planning on having a baby for years. I also had the name list for my dog completed well over a year before we got Darwin. So hard for me to narrow it down! I love his name but some of the alternatives we loved...

Out of the scientist names: Hubble, Kepler, Newton, Sagan

The other names we like: Roger, Walter, Carl, Django

We had narrowed it down to Roger or Django, got to the store, bought his tag and randomly decided Darwin would be better. I'm glad we did!

ANYWAYS, if I had to choose another name... I think I would pick... Walter. :-)

Although Darwin will always be a Darwin, I love the name Walter for a Doodle!

I love the name Walter for a doodle.  I would never change Darwin's name though because I love it.

My dog when I was a teen was named Wally but we mostly called him Walter.  Everyone laughed at a dog named Walter, but we loved it.  He was already named when we adopted him.

I love the name Darwin. He is an original and he did chew the Bible. We thought about Walnut for Vern and call him Wally.

Ginger's name could be Waffles because she is the color of a toasted waffle and maple syrup.

I always see Ginger Snap when you post and love that name, because I love the food names and COOKIES..LOL, but Waffles is adorable too.

It's easy for me....I'd switch Guinness to Murphy and Murphy to Guinness.  I often call them by the wrong names now, so there wouldn't be much of an adjustment period for me.  Actually, they will usually answer to each others' names anyway.  LOL
