I want to know if anyone else experiences this. I play with Daisy outside running, chasing, throwing ball maybe for 10 minutes maybe less but at full power...and then when she gets hot she has to lay down..I've never seen a dog do this. And then she can't seem to get comfortable, she pants and gets up and walks a lil an then lays back down. For a puppy I feel it is strange..and no I haven't asked my vet yet cause it's just become nice outside and it seems to be happening more often. Thanks for any input.

Running around for 10 minutes full tilt, then resting, sounds fine for a puppy I think. They know their limits and you shouldn't push them. It depends on how warm it is too.

Thank you...it sounds like Daisy is the normal golden doodle ...Thank goodness!!

Does she have access to water outside? I don't think it's unusual for a puppy to need to take a break and cool off after ten minutes of hard running, especially in warm weather.

Yes she has plenty of water...it's nice to hear that this is normal behavior...I never owned a doodle before and didn't want anything bad to happen to her...Thanks for your reply

Sounds like my Daisy many many moons ago, when she was 8 months and under, now she motors for hours. I am the one who makes her stop and rest.

AWeeeee...great!! Thanks for the reply!!

Zack is the same at 3 years. I think in his case it is due to his black color. He seems to get hot extremely quick,

Glad my Daisy is normal!!! :)

Cooper, at almost 3 is still like this. Now, she can walk forever, but running really tires her out

Thank you for your help!!!

Puppies are like that I think - full tilt and then they need recovery time and then back to it.  Gavin does not handle the heat well either.  I end up spraying him with the hose to cool him off.  He is forever searching for shade.

Great!! thanks for the help!!!
