Why isn't this a doodle?

Dumb question (and I did search this but couldn't find anything).  Maggie is Rooney's best friend at our dog park, she is a Cockapoo.  Cocker Spaniel + Poodle  so why isn't she considered some type of doodle?  I think she is a Cockerdoodle.  I realize that this sounds a bit nasty and most people might not want to say that they have a Cockerdoodle but really isn't that what a Cockapoo is?  So can someone please explain - what defines a doodle?  If there are Labradoodles, Goldendoodles, Aussiedoodles, why not Cockerdoodles or would that be a Cockadoodle?  Yes, I woke up in the middle of the night to ponder this - lol.

Muppets? I have to admit, it's why I am in line to get one now. The furry legs and sweet, shaggy faces. I swore if I ended up with an apricot male I was going to name him "Fozzie," as in Fozzie Bear. Alas we are expecting Georgia our girl goldendoodle next week.

Growing up our family dog was the offspring of a cocker mom and a poodle/pekinese dad - we called him a Cock-a-peek-a-poo.    

If I'm not mistaken, Goldendoodles were known by the alternate name of Goldiepoo.  Personally, I WAY prefer goldendoodle - we never used "poo" in my house so I'd have to call my dog "goldi number 2" or "Goldiepotty".

I think all poodle mix dogs are doodles.

I'm thinking Jennifer might be on the right track with Gump's Retriever.  Or -- maybe --Wookies?  (someone described their doodle as making happy, happy wookie sounds.  I thought that was (LOL) spot on!  Wookie Romps sound like fun.  :)
