I had finally thought everything was in place & I would be getting a puppy from the litter I posted about in November. Of course, just when things were perfect, my housing fell through. I was all set to move to a new apartment complex next week & welcome a puppy the weekend before Christmas. As you all may know, my birthday is Christmas Eve, so I was almost crazy with excitement that I was finally getting the dog I've always wanted.

How my housing fell through is a long, back and forth frustrating story, so I won't bore you all, but I can't hide my total sorrow at how close I was after all these years of being told I couldn't have a dog.

At this point, when the female has her next litter (June/July 2012), my breeder will have had my deposit for almost 2 years.

So sorry to hear about your housing and that you will not be getting your long-awaited puppy for Christmas.  These things tend to work out for the best and you can start looking forward to the puppy next summer.  Good luck on your housing, this is not the best time of the year to be moving, but we moved into our "forever" home on New Year's Day 23 years ago.  You will get the right housing and your puppy when the time is right for you.  In the meantime, enjoy your birthday.

sorry that your housing fell through.  Would the breeder give you your deposit back if you asked?  Maybe if she is able to sell all the puppies in the liter sh would be willing to refund your money.

I am on the list for the next litter, which would be born either this upcoming June/July. I've built up a relationship with the breeder, have been to their home, seen all moms/dads, & really do love the temperament of both mom & dad & the majority of the past litters have the looks I want, so I will wait for the next litter. I just thought a Christmas puppy would have been such a great coincidence!

I am so sorry you won't be getting your puppy... I can't imagine how you must feel.. all the excitement.

I am expecting my "fur" baby in Jan. I have already been making blankets for the crib(crate), reading "what to expect when your expecting", and purchasing much needed baby items.... I don't think I did those things for my real babies...

I hope in the end everything works out for the best and that you get the Doodle of your dreams.

Oh Jess! I am so very sorry to hear that you are facing disappointment yet again. I look forward to hearing about the puppy you hold in your arms soon.

Hang in there. After my divorce i allowed my ex to keep MY dog cause he had the yard and space.  It was along 4 years till I got my Monty . But by golly when I did get him, he was MINE on my terms IN MY SPACE.  I'm sorry it has not worked out for now, but obviously you have certain perameters that you want before you claim your puppy, nothing wrong with that.  Hang tight!

I am so sorry for your loss (as I'm sure it seems). My birthday has always been hard because it is the 27th. Everyone is OVER celebrating by then. I will say this summer will be better for potty training :-) hang in there. I'm sure there is a reason you are not aware of that has caused the delay.

Jess, I am so very sorry this litter of pups and this time and the housing is not working.

I'm so sorry, I can only imagine how disappointed you must be. I remember the anticipation I had once I had my deposit down on Tara and I would have been devastated if it hadn't worked out.

Thanks everyone! I know that it will be even better of an experience when the timing is right & I'm in pet friendly housing. It's so hard to wait though! Hopefully the year flies by! I figure the next litter will be even cuter & the perfect puppy (temperment & looks) will be one of them!

Oh I am so sorry your housing fell through.  Bummer.

THat stinks, I'm sure you were really looking forward to it. Think of it this way - you have even more time to plan how you will go about training the new puppy. Adult temperaments of the parents are important, but ALL puppies will have accidents, chew things up and possibly destroy your furniture. Unfortunately for us, they are not born knowing how to act in our homes, so you can use this extra time to research all of the different training methods that you can use to help your puppy learn to be the dog of your dreams!
I use clicker training with Annie and have been so pleased with the results. She could learn a new trick every day. We work on all the ones she already knows, so she gets practice - but wow, I could not believe how fast she learned with clicker (positive reinforcement) training. If you are interested, let me know and I can point you to some youtube channels with free info.
