Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Meet Max, a 10 month old GD puppy dumped in a kill shelter on Long Island, NY. The BS reason the shelter was told they were sending him to his death is because on a walk, he jumped and nipped 75 year old grandma's hand.
What a 75 year old woman would be walking a 50 lb doodle with lousy leash manners is beyond me! DRC was contacted by the shelter and our volunteer, Erica Stern, ran to the shelter and got him out!
He came to stay with us Friday. I can tell you that the story they told was an absolute lie! When I needed to grab his collar to stop a wrestling match with our Niña he put his mouth over my arm but in no way did he close his mouth. This boy doesn't have a mean cell in his big body!!!
Max is 27" tall and has a skinny build. He is just delicious!!!
If we didn't live with 4 doodles already there would be no way he would ever leave!!
It didn't take him long to learn house rules - sit, wait your turn and you will get a delicious surprise. Tonight was pasta with frozen vanilla yogurt for dessert!
Why anyone in their right mind would ever have dumped this boy is beyond me! They spent the time to teach him his basic commands. We are working on 'wait' which he is picking up real fast!!! We are going to work on leash manners tomorrow if the rain allows us to. He loves to play ball and actually brings the ball back. We are working on 'hand' which I use to mean drop the ball into my hand. He picked that up real fast!!!
Whoever winds up adopting this boy will be one very, very lucky family!!
