I can't believe this is happening to Monty. We were lucky to find a great groomer when he was a puppy and we've been going to this place ever since. Unfortunately, the original owner/groomer of the store passed away last spring. Even when she started having health problems, she hired a couple of new groomers and they were all fine and Monty usually came out looking nice. They would shave the bridge of his nose, so I learned to tell them not to do that. Monty's last haircut was a little more than three months ago, so it was time. I dropped him off in the morning not paying too much attention to the people there. Came back to pick him up and since I did not see the usual lady behind the counter I asked how many groomers they have now. The guy answered, just me and Julie. I looked at Julie and did not recognize her. Could not remember the name of the usual lady so I tried to investigate with him to see who she was. I thought she was a groomer, but apparently not. I'm really bad at remembering people names. But I thought she was the one getting Auggie's first haircut and last few haircuts for Monty. She always used to ask a lot of questions about what I wanted. This guy just asked "the usual?" when I dropped of Monty and I said yes (and don't shave the bridge of his nose).

Anyways, so I pick Monty up and the same guy said Monty turned out nicely. So I paid, thanked him and home we went. I don't know about you, but when I pick up my dogs from the groomer, I really don't have a chance to look closely. Monty was jumping around just being happy to see me. He was cut short, but that's what they always do.

It wasn't until we got home I had a chance to take a closer look at his head. Man, they cut off the hair on top of his head; it was the same length as his body hair. And yet, they left this really long hair on the sides. And it's not even. It looks like his head slopes to the left.

I'm trying really hard not to over-react. We have a Christmas photoshoot in 3 weeks and I know the hair will grow by then. I'm also telling myself that I can just take my scissors and try to even out the sides of his head. But the more I look at poor Monty, the more irritated I get. Originally, I was going to tell the "groomer" in three weeks when I take the boys for the bath, but now I'm thinking I'm going to call tomorrow and take Monty back.

It's really hard for me to confront people. Especially if we all know how good groomers are important. And what they already think about doodle owners (the ones that tell them not to make their doodle look like a poodle). I guess I just want to know who cut Monty's hair this time so that I know to ask for another groomer. And I want to know who used to cut his hair in the recent past. Or should I just take my scissors and try to fix it on my own and just tell the groomer in three weeks that I did not like the way they cut his head?

Anyway, sorry for the rant. I just got really upset since I'm not used to worry about the outcome after I take my dogs to a groomer.

On a good note, I think I can see Monty's waist finally. He's been little chubby the last few months and it seems that the green bean diet worked.

See what I'm talking about? WTD?!?!

Hello Mr. Waist, nice to see you again!

Sorry Jarka. Monty's head does look a vbit lopsided. I think you need to complain whether you bring him back or not. But his new figure is great.
I'm not a groomer, but can clearly see that is uneven! I can't believe they let a dog out of their salon looking like that and thought he looked nice! Plus side is it will grow back!

Oh dear. Well, it does grow back. :-)

Wow, I see what you mean. Monty's head is quite unevenly cut. I don't get it, they're calling themselves professional groomers? I would be just as upset as you. For me, when I picked up one of my doodles and didn't like their cut, I would never go back to that groomer again, especially with something that clearly showed they had no clue what they were doing. For smaller things, (like my pet peeve over wanting the leg length at least twice the body length) I just made a point to always stress that each and every time I took them in (like you with the note re the bridge of the nose). You can try taking Monte back to get his head evened out, but after that groom how much do you trust them? I am so glad I started doing my own grooming. I have no one to blame now but myself if I'm not happy :)

Way to go, Monte, on the weight loss!

Yikes--someone was really sloppy.  Luckily it will grow out soon, and in the meantime you can even it out a bit yourself with scissors.  So sorry.

That is so frustrating, Jarka! Monty is a gorgeous doodle and he definitely looks all lopsided with that haircut. I hope you are able to find a good groomer for your sweet boys.

He's not so bad. The hair will grow out,=. Looks like they nicked him in a few places, his elbow  and by his tail. Hes a really cute Doodle! My groomer cut one leg and not the other. Do they look at the finished dog???I took her back and they cut her evenly.I don't know, maybe the phone rang and they forgot where they stopped. Grooming can be a tough job.

I agree, that is not a good grooming job and you are right to be upset. I think you should call and pluck up the courage to say you are upset. I think you will have to find a new groomer :(

I would call and voice my concerns and then even it out myself. I think I would look for a new groomer or at least ask that a specific groomer only work on Monty!

I would start by figuring out who owns the store now and I would go in with Monty and talk with them.  When ever I'm upset I always look at it from the viewpoint that if I were the owner and someone was upset, I would want to know.  I think that it is important that the owner and the groomer see exactly what you are talking about.  If you fix it yourself and go back in 3 weeks they are just going to think you are a picky doodle Mom.  If they don't react favorably when you go in to talk, then I'd look for another groomer.

I think this is great advice!

Oh my goodness!  Lucky Monty is so cute he can even pull off a lop sided "do." I don't like confrontations either, but I think you should take him back and show them.  Three weeks from now, they'll have no idea.  Then decide if he's going back.  A few months ago, I brought FInn home and noticed he had a flat spot in the middle of his head.  Like someone was scissoring and got distracted for a moment. Oops! I let that go, but would talk to the groomer about something like this.  Looking good weight-wise though.
