Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hello Everyone! It's picking time for my Goldendoodle puppy and I couldn't be more excited! I have first pick and have narrowed it down between these three boys. They are standard size just over 5 weeks oldand all weigh approx 5 lbs 15 oz. Since I live out of state, I have to rely on pics alone and would love to hear if any of these pups (particularly their color/coat/size) resembles any of your dogs features this age. This is totally just for fun, but I'd like any opinions on what you think these pups might look like as they get older. If you have any feedback at all, I'd love to hear it. I will post 2 pics of pup #1, then 2 pics of pup#2, and 2 pics of pup #3 and then a group shot of their heads. They are f1bs (mom is a Red standard poodle weighs 45 lbs and Goldendoodle dad is apricot and weighs 60 lbs). I'm mostly curious what you guys think as far as wavy, shaggy, or curly coat. I really don't see any main differences, so if you do please point them out. Also, if one of these looks like your dog as a pup, I"d like to see what your wonderful doodle looks like now. Breeder says their temperaments are all great and about the same, very active, playful and loving.

TO ME, they all look like they will be relatively curly. Perhaps not tight curls like a poodle, but they all already have significant wave to their coats (looking at their foreheads) so I think they will all have some "curl". Although I am partial to reds, number three is definitely my favorite. He looks healthy and has a great face with a beautiful color. That is totally superficial though :) Can your breeder give you ANY differences in temperament between the three? Surely, they have even slight differences by now.
I'll add that my only "expertise" in coat typing is from looking at endless pictures of pup to adults. By no means am I an expert. Ginny would be the better guide and is far more of an expert than I!
I asked and she said their temperaments were all about the same, very playful, gentle and loving. Honestly, I was wanting more than that, it seems very general (aren't all doodles loving and playful?) lol... But anyway, I'll def ask about Skype. And who is Ginny? I'd like to contact her and see if she has any opinions. Thank you!
Thanks so much!
I have no expertise on their coats but I love the first one w/ the little bits of white on pup 1. They are all adorable!
I would ask your breeder for some more descriptions on each of them to see if there are any qualities you are more hoping for. Or maybe you can FaceTime or Skype while she plays and handles each of them so you can see how they interact a little better than just in snapshots.
Good idea with Skype!
Thanks guys! I'll def see if she can skype! Thanks for the suggestion:)
I like the little white on #1 also. Hard to choose by looks, all are adorable.
They are all so cute! Congratulations! Sounds like anyone of them will be great!
Yes, these pups will all have wavy to curly coats--just look at the waves on the ears--a clear sign...The pup with the white has the best "labby" head and build--he is very nice--other two are nice too but have a narrower face--but not much narrower--you really can't go wrong as they are so similar. Boy with white is bigger at the moment and has a broader chest--might have a bit stockier build.
As for personality, I would have to say that if you don't have to make your choice immediately, you should ask the breeder again in a week or so--they grow so fast at this age and the difference in behavior between 5 weeks and 7 weeks is enormous. They have only had their eyes open for three weeks! So, the individual temperaments would be hard to discern at this age--the breeder might have a better idea in a week or so--I hope she is spending enough time with the pups to know them a bit--since you can't visit the place personally, I assume she is flying the pups for you or are you going to make the trip yourself to get him? It is risky to buy a pup sight unseen and without knowing what the conditions of the breeder's facilities are, but these pups look clean, well-cared for and home-raised...that is a good sign. I wish you luck!! Have fun with the new baby!
