I am washing dishes and Abby is bark bark barking at Bailey, I am basically ignoring it with the odd "Oh Abby Shush!!" because it is pretty normal for her to bark at Bailey because he does stuff like stand infront of her favourite toy, or food dish or whatever and wont let her get near. Anyways the barking was getting irritating so I walked into the family room to stop it and what do I see. Bailey is hung up on the berber carpet by the rabies tag loop on his collar...and he is standing there stuck -attached by a good 8 inches of unraveled berber! WTH? What are the odds of that happening! He must have been rolling, and the rolling snagged the wire loop for his tag into the burbur loop. And there he was caught standing there like a fish on a line. Besides the fact that my burbur is destroyed with a big bald spot now - can you imagine if I hadnt been home!!

You know in all my life I have never seen a collar caught - wouldnt have even dreamed it. I am now humbled. No more collars on in the house while I am not home. I will check out that site.
Glad that Bailey is ok. How smart is Abby that she was letting you know? Good Girl!
One of my dogs got her rabies tag caught on the grate for the heat/ac vent. I was talking to my son and looked at her saying "oh she looks so cute, she is trying to let the air blow in her face"...duh, then I took a closer look and she was caught. From that day the dogs never wore their collars in the house again.
What a good girl Abby is for trying to let you know! So smart. This reminds me of my "dishwasher incident" when my Tomas got his collar ring stuck in the bottom rack. It was a disaster but he has never touched the dishwasher again. Happy to hear that Bailey is OK and sorry about the carpet. Thankfully you were home.
I bought the Amaze a Ball by JW pet toys. It has 4 prongs ( forming a pretty tight wedge) on one side to push "treats in" and a hole on the other side for treats to fall out as the ball rolls around. Archie was running around the kitchen with the ball in his mouth. I kept saying give me the ball. I finally realized he was running around and panting as the ball was stuck in his mouth. His lower tooth got stuck in the center of the 4 prongs. I quickly grabbed the ball and had to dislodge it from his mouth. I e-mailed JW toys. What if I had not been home? I do not know if he could have died due to a lack of oxygen. This toy is sold all over the country. I would like to think my very strong e-mail will make them re-look at the prongs. Please, if you buy one do not leave your dog alone with it. Audrey Goldman
Not just collars. I put old carpet in my dog run. I put in some berber a couple of weeks ago. I came out & Zorro had a berber cord tightly wrapped around his leg cutting off the circulation & he was stuck. Good thing I was home. Needless to say I threw out all the berber from the dog run. I'm glad Bailey is okay. Good girl Abby taking care of your brother & knowing what to do. Puppy love from JOy & furry folk
It is lucky you were home....glad Bailey is okay.
