I am washing dishes and Abby is bark bark barking at Bailey, I am basically ignoring it with the odd "Oh Abby Shush!!" because it is pretty normal for her to bark at Bailey because he does stuff like stand infront of her favourite toy, or food dish or whatever and wont let her get near. Anyways the barking was getting irritating so I walked into the family room to stop it and what do I see. Bailey is hung up on the berber carpet by the rabies tag loop on his collar...and he is standing there stuck -attached by a good 8 inches of unraveled berber! WTH? What are the odds of that happening! He must have been rolling, and the rolling snagged the wire loop for his tag into the burbur loop. And there he was caught standing there like a fish on a line. Besides the fact that my burbur is destroyed with a big bald spot now - can you imagine if I hadnt been home!!

It's just lucky you were home. Poor Bailey. This story reminds us that our dogs don't only bark to annoy us.
Glad to hear Bailey will be ok...and glad he was not crated at the time he got stuck....why I like to keep collars off in the house.
That is why I don't leave Samantha's collar on when we are home. I am so glad that Abby is okay and am really sorry about the rug.
Yes, I never leave collars on when I am not home! Came home once and Taquito's tag was caught on a blanket and he was panicked, to say the least!
Glad Bailey's ok. I wonder if Abby was trying to save him or tell on him for ripping the carpet, lol.
I think she really was sounding the alarm. Saying "somethings wrong somethings different!!"
I think you're right. Halas notices anything different (Sunday he barked at a new flower in my mom's neighbor's yard), so if Abby's the same way, she could probably tell that this was different AND dangerous. Did it sound like a different bark than normal? Halas has different barks for different situations.
Glad he is ok....I guess I should take the boys' collars off in the house. I never would have given it a second thought before.
WOW, it is lucky you were home! How scary for him : (
I'm really glad to hear Bailey is a-okay. We had a similar situation happen with our puppy - - his "tags" went/fell down into the air-conditioning register/vent he was resting over. I heard this terrible clanky noise, turned around and there was Astro running through the kitchen with the air-conditioning vent attached to his collar. It was very freightning as he was running so fast and the vent was banging around. Luckily I was able to quickly release his collar and it fell to the ground. Good news he is okay and still sleeping on the vents. It didn't spook him too bad.
Good for Abby! Thank goodness you were home. I keep the collars off Gus and Molly now, after reading the story someone posted about a dog's teeth getting caught in the other dog's collar...the dog with the collar on choked to death.
Scary huh? One of my son's dogs actually passed out from having his collar caught. Same story as yours, his other dog was barking and my son went to check. The collar was so caught and twisted he had to cut it off. Because of this we went internet walking and found this website bestfriendsgeneral store.com and the sarety collar. This collar is made by the company who makes gentle leader. It is a breakaway collar with a clever design that allows you to hook a leash to the collar and by pass the breakaway. It comes in sizes small to extralarge.
