I often admired Camilla's and DJ's Challenges this year. I waited until now to commit. It seems fitting to come home ( DK ) and place them here.

Truly, the more the merrier and I'm among the best of friends.

I do post from time to time on facebook at Frayed Knots for my family or those family members who do not want to see my photos all the time on my regular page I took one out separate.  You are welcome to follow.

I started with a photo I have already taken before but this day the lightening was ideal and I had a zoom lens.

I am so ready to reach out of my comfort zone and do what I don't know is out there.

An old Subject.  A New Photo

Eastern Screech Owl

Manual 5.6, 1/800, ISO 500

I love the way this owl blends with its surroundings.  I need people like you to help me see birds like this--I struggle even spotting nests!

I am so glad you are doing this challenge!

Super! Owls are my very favorite birds, and you have captured it wonderfully. So what exactly is the challenge? What kinds of photos will you be looking to take?

Great first picture, he has some pretty cool camouflage!

This is a wonderful shot, Joanne.

Owls are so interesting! Great picture, Joanne.

I love the way the owl blends into the tree.  Great picture. So glad you are doing the challenge.  It will be fun to see your photos.

Great capture Joanne.

I used to see these screech owls in the Everglades when I lived in Florida.  Here, I rarely see any owl much less hear any.  : (

Yes, the owl looks like part of the tree -no wonder he calls it home!  Congrats Joanne for deciding to do the 52 week challenge.  I have been taking a photo a day, but as of today, have not joined the challenge.

Yay!

Fantastic!  An owl, disguised as a squirrel, disguised as tree bark.  And yes you ARE among friends!

Week 2

Whew, what a busy week.   My husband had surgery ( he is fine, I am just busy ) and not much camera time for me.  While I was being quiet Friday, I was able to make Colored Ice Balls: fill a balloon with water and food coloring and place outside.  It certainly represents the cold -2 day we had.
