Donna, I think you did a fine job. I have taken thousands of Fudge running at me. A way to get around a dog running and knocking you over is a training technique.
In your recall lessons, give the command Come, and the dog should come and sit right in front of you ;)
Come/Sit will be your friend.
Come/Sit/Drop it ( drop the ball or toy). Works like a charm and keeps you safe
