I love your new leashes!! The fleece is awesome.

picked up a couple of toys and two new leashes last weekend. The orange leash has a snap end and is all fleece (it's for Rusty). The blue leash just has a circle end that slips over the head and is fleece and rope (much more durable). The price was right on both of them. I even think I might be able to make some myself - so I bought some fleece remnant to try. You never know!

Yeah Kim!! It sounds like you and Parris had a blast! Does Parris loooooove tunnels?? How'd the new leash work out??

Hi Everyone,
The run throughs were so much fun. We got to run the novice course including all the equipment three times. I had 1 clean run. It was a really fun course and I learned a lot. When I did the walk-through I never even saw what turned out to be a really hard transition. You went over a jump that faced directly into a tunnel but that wasn't the next obstacle, a jump was. We missed it twice. Parris took the tunnel. (because my shoulders were facing the tunnel) . On the last run I got it right and Parris did too. SO FUN!!!

Hi Denise,
So glad your day was good. Thanks for your reply about bloat. I agree with you. Parris does not get dinner on agility nights. She isn't a "gulper" either. So I think we are ok.

Hi Everyone,
We had a fantastic day at agility, we worked on jumps, the table with jumping on it than at a sit and doing downs on it, and the weave polls. I think she really keys into my pain and when I'm not feeling good, or stressed and today I think really proved it. Those polls are getting mighty closer and Hannah is learning how to shake it..lol. With the jumps we had to do jump 1 and 2 than after going over three a front cross and stop turning into our dogs and giving them a treat and than step back and go over jump 4, it's hard to explain, but she omitted jumps 5, 6, and 7 as she thought it would be to much for all our dogs. I thought I would be the worse at this...lol I made one mistake and that was on the 2nd try...it was me...not Hannah. When our trainer always ask who wants to try it first ...we all nominate a dog by the name of Spanky and her Mommy...but they are really great sports about it.

Kim before I go to class with any training I do not feed my dogs, their meal is the treats they are getting and I will not over do it, and Hannah only gets about 3 to 4 bacon strips chopped up as her treat, she also is not gulping it down. Even her regualr meals she does not gulp her food, she is a very picky eater and slow eater. If I use chicken breast cut up, its one medium peice boiled and cut up, after she is home about an hour, I will give her about 3/4 of a cup of her dry food, till dinner time. I also do not let them fill up on water, they get water with meals at morning and night, they get a drink at lunch and around 7 to 8:00 at night and thats it. With trying to train Honey, I have to restrict it or she would be peeing non stop. When I had Honey to the vet she was 28lbs at 6 months. She will be going back the end of next week for a check up and getting a weight for her. I guess its just habit that I have gotten into over the years with all my dogs and training with them and so far we have been very lucky. Well gotta go, hope all have a great Doodle day....Denise

Hi Everyone,
You know, I was thinking.......about the bloat. At agility, we give them food to motivate them, let them have water, and hype them up. I know we give them small amounts of food, but it adds up after an hour.Parris is only 24 pounds. I try not to let her drink too much until the end of class. What do you guys think???? Are we putting them at risk???

Denise,
Parris started sleeping with us at age one. Have fun at class tomorrow.

LeAnn,
My obedience teacher loves the 2x2 weave pole training. He thinks it is a fail safe method. The dogs will have the entry down. Stay warm tommorrow.

Well, they are predicting possible tornadoes in Atlanta tomorrow. Hoping I get to go the run-thrus at my agility club.

We are just getting the bad thunderstorms and rain...but I am watching the snow in your area. That should really rev the dogs up! If this rain doesn't let up I will probably skip the AKC event.
Denise
Thanks for the posting on Bloat. Great information. Murphy is my second "accident prone" child. Now I go to vet instead of the ER.
Murphy has his choice. His crate is left open. But he picks up his "tiger" and heads upstairs to bed with me.
