Well tomorrow is coming quickly and looking forward to Hannah and I doing class together, going to try and different approach with her and see if this helps, even this week at home with her seemed different and she seemed more upbeat and playing with Honey more also. ???? how many of you let your dogs sleep with you, or are the crated, or have their blankies..lol. I give them their choice and Hannah use to be a crate nut, now since Honey has joined us, Honey is in the crate and Hannah wants to be in bed with me, they also have blankies on the floor, but still prefer the crate or the bed. Their crates are also left open, so they can come and go.

Linda - can't wait to hear about the AKC event...

Denise - Loved your blog about bloat... and glad to know your Denise.. I thought you were Hannah.. LOL..

Kim - I'll be anxious to hear what you think of the book!

Jane - too cute story about Noah LOL... as for toys, Lucy will go for our trainers toys like their chicken.. I'll RUN to petsmart and buy the exact same toy and zip zero nada. We are making progress though..

I just received my 2x2 Weave pole training 12 poles in 12 days - a 2 DVD set from, yes, Susan Garrett. I'm trying to decide whether to watch them or do my taxes! LOL

Kim,
Thanks for the encouragement. That is so funny about the tennis ball.
We will let you know how it goes.

So Sorry Denise!! LOL!!! You sound like an amazing doodle Mom. So glad to "meet" you. I really think you have the attitude to have a ball at agility. I remember going straight from obedience to agility and they were so "positive" I had a VERY STRICT obedience teacher and it did take me a couple of months to adjust as well. Love hearing your posts

Hi Kim,
Hannah is my 18 month old agility dog..lol..my name is Denise, proud Mommy to HannahNHoney. I think and feel our class is a great class, everyone is close and helps each other. It's funny cause I feel all the dogs there are better than Hannah and I, and yet they seem to feel Hannah and I are doing great. The trainers Ceil and Pat are fantastic and have been doing this for years, so I feel we are very lucky to have met them and be able to have classes with them. I also think Hannah keys in on my disability at times, and this may be some of why she holds back, and than the obedience training on top of it all. I was very spoiled for the last 10 to 13 years with my Rotties, they did whatever and it was easier being younger training them than it is now. So I really need to keep that in mind when I'm working with Hannah, cause I know she can do this and if you seen the way this dog can jump..omg. I have seen her clear a sofa going from the back side of it, and landing on all fours on the floor. That in it self has to be equivalent to the top jump they do with the hurdles. As a puppy she would be running and just be jumping over other dogs to get where she wanted to go, it just amazed me. I can just say we are not giving up, and hope for the best, lots of Practice, Patients, and Praise.

Linda,
I am excited for you. Murphy will do amazing. They are gonna take one look at him and fall in love. You are gonna make their day, I promise. Murphy will make you proud. On my first therapy visit, we entered a room and the resident had trouble turning on her light from her chair, so they rigged up a rope with a tennis ball on it. Well, Parris thought this was for her. Parris was jumping and turning on the light. It was hilarious. Everyone laughed. It was also VERY cute the names that the residents called Parris. Harris and Farris were the most popular. You just want to hug them. They are so appreciative.
Let me know how it goes. I enjoy going to watch trials also. It sounds like you have a fun weekend planned.

Kim,
We will be thinking about you. There is an AKC event very close to me and we may go watch.
We are going to do our first therapy visit at an asisted living home in Baton Rouge Saturday morning. I'm a little nervous.

Hi LeAnn,
Great info. I am going to check out the book Shaping Success. I love to play games with Parris. Her favorite is hide and seek. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Everybody,
Great posts!!
Hannah, I think that even if your dog isn't motivated by food or toys, she will continue to improve with focus because she wants to please YOU. I think this comes with maturity. If you have a blast, so will she. One of my favorite instructors at agility says there at 2 types of dogs. First, the driven dog that will do agility with any handler and Second, the dog that does agility just to be with and spend time with their Mom or Dad. She used 2 dogs in our class as examples, and it was so true. It was really cute. She used Parris as the example of the dog that would do the run with any handler. Parris had messed up on the course with me, but when she did it with Andrea, the trainer, it was perfect. But then she used Abby, and Abby does great with her Mom but wouldn't budge with Andrea. She said our dogs will enjoy agility for different reasons.
Hannah, I was wondering if the environment of the class you are in is "fun" or competitive? I'm looking forward to hearing how your class goes Saturday.

Jane,
I talked with my vet about agility and she checked Parris but I think I will ask for an x-ray at her 2 year old checkup. She did mention that I should keep Parris at about 24-25 pounds because of the stress on her joints with agility. I hope your class will start in a month so we can hear all about Sherlock.

Linda,
I am doing run-thrus again this weekend at my agility club. This time, I am more excited than nervous. I will let you know how it goes.
