Compensating For the Lack of Space and Yard.

What do you do to keep your doodles exercised and happy, despite not having an abundance of space? During the warm months, we take Darwin to a local nature trail that doubles as an off-leash dog park. It's got space and water, and friends to play with. We take him there at least two or three times a week. During the winter, we utilized daycare, and had a lot of late night romps around our apartment common area! Luckily, Darwin is pretty lazy...

Two walks a day, 30 mins in the morning and 1 hr in the evening. We bring them to the park every Sat morning (2 hrs), and a walk down the main shopping strip on Sunday morning (2 hrs). They spend most of their day indoor just chilling out, laying around, making their rounds (Koda enjoys cat-watching on his perch i.e. back of my couch). They go crazy chasing, tearing through the apartment and wrestling with each other at least 2 to 3 times a day.

Unfortunately, the only offleash premises for dogs in our country are the designated dog parks, which they will never get to experience. We have heard and read of too many unfortunate incidents happened at these parks to ever want to bring them there. Zooey LOVES swimming, so we bring her to the dog-pool at a boarding facility as often as we could.

we have a long hallway in our apartment so throw a toy down there to play fetch. We also have a stake and long line we can take outside for fetch but have only used it once. I have started giving cooper 1 walk a day on the long line so she can run. The other walk is on short leash. We will sometimes run in the hallway of the building and Cooper will play tag with D and I

I'm glad I found this group.  We currently live in a small house, the home is owned by my husbands boss and he offered it to us dirt cheap for rent when we first moved here two years ago.  This neighborhood stinks, so we're moving into a nice condo closer to both of our jobs.

I was slightly worried about the living situation with the dogs, but it seems other people seem to do just fine.  Right across from the condos they have a jogging trail and an off leash dog park, so i'm sure we will spend time out there.  The condo does come with a small little fenced in patio area for outdoor time.  I'm looking forward to it!
