Abby is 2 and Molly is 18 months old. From 9 months of age they got a little taller but gained no weight. Molly is a mini 16 inches 17 pounds, Abby is a medium 19 inches 21 pounds.

Max is about 17-18" & 30 lbs. Like Ned, Max is 1 1/2 & stopped growing at about 9 months. His mom is a mini at 22 lbs and dad a med at 40 lbs. He also had huge puppy paws and our vet thought for sure he would be at least 50 lbs. I'm so glad he stopped at 30 :-)

Mini size is 16" tall. Ned is a medium at 17" - he weighs 27 pounds. He is 1 1/2 but stopped growing at about 9 months. The "formula" of doubling weight etc doesn't seem to apply for the smaller doods.

Megan is a medium, @35 pounds. She grew very quickly as a pup but by her first birthday, she was full grown. She has muscled up a bit since but not gotten taller.- she is about 17-18 inches. She is two. I have to say that when we took her to the vet as a young pup, the size of her paws made the vet think she would be big.. she has grown into them!

Simon just turned 7 months old. He is 22" to the shoulder (withers) and about 42 lbs. He is a standard ALD. I have found most dogs grow to the majority of their adult height by 1 year, then muscles fill out and coat matures by around 2 years.

My vet told me "rule of thumb" - not an exact science - is to double the puppy's weight at 4 months old, add 5-10 lbs based on the breed and that should give you an approx adult weight of the adult dog.

I think the breed standard is explained on the AALA site. :-)
Simon says...Happy New Year!

She is measuring around 19 inches or so, kind of hard with all the wiggling.

I just checked Nugget's records....she was 35 lbs at 8 months and is now 50 lbs at 3 years old. Stayed very consistent since a year. From the floor to the top of her collar she is 27 inches. She was 23 inches at 8 months. We thought she was supposed to top out at 35 lb, too. But, I have to say we are very happy with her size now. She fits perfectly with the three of us on the couch!! Happy New Year!

Thanks Joan for writing back. I suppose there really is no formula. What do you suppose she might wind up around? My husband keeps saying "I thought you told me she was a mini, what happened? The vet never answers me when I ask if she's done growing.

I think Sadie will be at most a large medium or maybe a small standard. the height is a large part of the equation, measured to the shoulder.
