Congratulations, Diane.  It is so hard to wait for the right puppy.  soon you will have your lovey doodle. Genie ! as in I dream of.  Jenny,  Josie, Julie, my pups mom was Jewelle   I'm liking Genie as they are magical...no one would know it's not Jeanie...in that vein, Gypsy...she IS dark and lovely and exotic.  Learned from a friend that the black pups have amazing soft coats.  Some say Jett is a male name...Jelly,   I am one happy person now that I have my pup.  7 days today! The time goes quickly from now on, she'll be in your arms in no time!

Just heard back from the breeder, she's ours! YES! Now to think of a new name. Looking for a "J" name with an e sound at the end, as in Jersey. Any suggestions let me know?

Well, the mother had her litter of ONE yesterday. This is her photo, they named her "Berlin". I'm sure there were others waiting for a puppy from this litter, so I am wondering what will happen now. Don't know where I was on the waiting list. I am waiting to hear from the breeder. Hope the mom is OK and didn't have a hard delivery. My Jasmine came from a litter of two. The breeder had another ALD female deliver a litter yesterday of 5 boys. They were going to be smaller than the litter I was waiting for.

Thanks for the welcome Nancy and doodle pack. I would be very happy getting a doodle with Charlie coloring but the choice is not mine to make. I can only tell the breeder what my perfect ALD would be and see how close she can come to matching it. I asked for a female, parti if possible or with markings and something other than the colors I already have. Still waiting to hear of the birth, should be any day now.

In Long beach, it is $35 to register a spayed or neutered dog, and it's $100 to register and intact dog.

Carolyn - wow!  $100 for an intact dog.  Currently I have three altered dogs and they are all registered, chipped, and up on all shots.  I try to be a responsible human caretaker for these pets.

Lynda, In our city we pay $100/yr for intact dogs.  The 'senior owners' get a break in the fees for only one altered dog @ $10 to $12/yr.  I don't remember what the going price is for altered dogs.

Welcome to this group, Diane.  Now I can see your great pictures in another place.  Ned and Charlie are ALDs.  I am looking forward to seeing what you end up choosing color-wise.

Lynda~ It is $21 to license a spayed/neutered dog where we live in NJ. I paid $200 10 years ago to have Jersey spayed, it will probably be twice that when I go to get the new pup done. My husband wants a female, as the males lift their legs on his shrubs. It makes no difference to me, I could train them not to lift their leg. My perfect pup would be a darker parti ALD, but time will tell what I end up with. My girls used to like going to the vet too, UNTIL they were spayed, now they hate going.

Carolyn - I don't know about other states, but California (or at least our local area) requires a much more expensive registration for an unspayed female.  It is $45 a year for intact females and $7 for spayed.  I wanted her registered (and chipped) so I paid the higher price.  And it costs about $200 for a spay, but everything with dogs is expensive anyway.  I just like to have it under my control and done locally.
