Sandy, I couldn't see where to reply to your e-mail. So, decided to start a discussion for replying! I think the exchange is a good idea. How many others would be interested???
Last year I signed up for a Christmas card exchange..I think it was group B and if I remember correctly there were 50 members in that group. I received the most wonderful cards from all over the US and one from Canada...I sent all 50 cards out but only received about 40 back. It also cost about 50 dollars for me to send the cards.( I think) So I am all for a Canadian doodle Christmas card exchange. You can count me in....I think I did sign up for it last year too. But as Sandy said there wasn't much response.
Wow, 50 is an awful lot of cards to send! That sounds like a lot. Maybe a smaller number would be more reasonable and make people more willing to give it a go? The number each person had to send could be restricted to say 10-15 cards?? I don't really know how these things work!
I wouldn't mind doing it if it was limited to around 10-15 cards each, as even with Canadian postage plus 13% HST it definitely adds up. It would be lovely to get Christmas greetings from other Doodle parents.
I know if I had another list of people (or doodles) to send cards to that I would just put it off and probably never get it done (besides it being expensive). Now if it was an e-mail card list, I could handle that! So, anybody else in favor of e-mailing holiday cards? I will start a list of addresses, but what would be a good way to make a list of people who want to e-mail cards?
Of course anyone is welcome to exchange addresses however they like, but part of the FUN Of the Holiday Card Exchange is getting those physical cards in the mail every day and trying to find somewhere to put them and displaying them, at the awe of guests, all over your walls :-D
It's just not the same to get 50 email cards...it feels more like SPAM at that point. I, for one, probably wouldn't have sent cards to anyone when I first did this...if it WASN'T for the doodle card exchange...LOL.
Whoops, didn't realize this was the Canadian group, but my offer still stands to anyone, anywhere. I personally would not want 50 physical cards to display, but I do save my cards for the kids to cut up at school the following year. I do my cards on Smilebox and they are personalized and do not feel at all like SPAM. So, if you would like one, post your e-mail address somewhere. Where??
One of our card exchange group members offered to distribute the cards from outside the USA. Apparently she did this for Zoe from the Netherlands. Zoe mailed her ALL her addressed cards and paid for the cost of USA stamps and that worked well for her.
Here is a picture of Thomas the "lap dog" sitting with my son last Christmas BUT if you look in the background you will see all of the cards I received taped to the door ...I personally could not wait to go to the mailbox to see the cards we received. You see these were not just Christmas cards...they were photocards of the cutest doodles...most of them posing beautifully for their Christmas photo. They came from all over the US and I did get one or two from Canada. It was a lot of fun and I received so many messages on my page when the recipients received our card. However...the cards I sent cost 25 dollars to print at Walmart and it was 50 dollars postage to mail these. So fellow Canadians I would be thrilled to cut this down a bit and share in a card exchange for a smaller group. So what happens now...
