sorry, another coat question :)

[Chocolate Doodles]

my doodle girl has lots of grey hair all over her coat, mainly on her back, that started at 4/5 months. But it didnt stop yet and appers more and more all over. is there a chance that this disappers again and that she stays mainly chocolate or does that mean she will change color to grey? she is now 7 months old. Does anybody also know how F1's change to the adult coat. do they loose hair in patches or is it just more shedding? i attached two picturs, one when she was about 4 1/2 months old and the other was made not to long ago. Thank you for reading and it would be great to get some answers! :) please

Looks like your girl will be cafe or lavender. To stay chocolate, they pretty much have to be darker at 9 weeks than when they were born. On the upside, the G or greying gene often gives the dogs a coat that has high and low lights like they just spent hours at the hairdressers.

These pic were both taken at one year old. Both were born chocolate and the silvery one DeeDee was pretty dark until 6 months. Then she started to change. The darker one, Dream, is darker now than when she was born. She has a bit of red tinge from the sun bleaching.

My Charlie was a dark brown when we first got him but also started with the silver hairs about the same time.  He is now almost 6 years old and is a beautiful kind of cappucino color.  Does your doodle have amber colored eyes?  Charlie does and somewhere along the way I was told by someone (and can't remember who, sorry..) that if a chocolate doodle had amber colored eyes there was a good chance that they would turn lighter.  I pay big money for me to have the same kind of highlights and curls that my Charlie has!!!

I would classify our Charlie Brown as becoming a cafe.  He was very chocolate, but immediately had a frosted tail.  His ears and neck are still chocolate, but I see the frosty look coming through his body.  I love his tail!  I guess I love all the chocolates, no matter what.

My Cooper has lightened, and has grey streaks but is still very chocolate at 3 years old. your pup has more grey so i would guess is she will lighten alot

This is Riley at a year old, he has lightened a lot and I'm not sure what you can call him, he's got blond bits, grey bits, cafe and chocolate bits!!! : )

Someone told me that the 'chocolate' have to be born almost black/chocolate (she was) and if there is white hairs between the pads of their paws (she has) they would most likely fade. What will I call 'Hershey" if she becomes cafe?  Here is Hershey at 15 months.  She is actually darker then in photo.

Absolutely!  There are days I would like to get another and another, but I do not want to change the relationship I have with Charlie.
