To answer someone's question about shedding, our boy did shed A LOT when we first got him but our groomer told us that if we trimmed him often in the first year, his hair would grow into a more adult hair and he would shed less. He will be 2 years old next month and hardly sheds at all anymore.
We got our goldendoodle from Christy's almost 2 years ago and we couldn't be happier!!!
Could it be just hair....Not a shed but ours is like my hair. It does shed a bit...I do and so does our Teddy.
Terra...it is a myth that ALL Doodles DO NOT SHED. There are no guarantees but most do not shed. There are plenty of members here on DK that have shedding Doodles...both Labradoodles and Goldendoodles. Is your puppy an F1 (first generation where one parent is a Poodle and the other a Golden Retriever) or is it an F1b (one parent is a Goldendoodle and the other is a Poodle)? It is said that the more Poodle that is in the Doodle there is less chance of shedding. An F1b would have more Poodle in it and probably not shed. Otherwise it is hit or miss when you pick a puppy. Even within a litter one may shed and one may not. Your puppy is too young to be blowing out it's puppy coat. That usually starts around 8 months and happens to all Doodles regardless of shedding or not. You might want to call Christy and voice your concerns. She may have a way of knowing which puppy will be a shedder and which won't. I'm sorry this happened to you.
We picked up our puppy last night and I am REALLY worried about the hair I am seeing on our clothes already. The primary reason we chose a goldendoodle was so it wouldn't shed and at 7 1/2 weeks we are already seeing hair on our clothes after we hold him. please tell me this is a normal part of being a puppy and DOES NOT mean that he is going to be one of the only goldendoodles that sheds. Any help on the topic would be great. Thanks.
I used "John Knows Dogs" training. They are located in Escondido and his daughter Jessica was our trainer. We loved her!!! There are all kinds of packages and things you can sign up for. We did the Platinum package so we had free training help for life plus we can attend other classes. I did a bit of Agility with Gracie more so just for a bonding experience. Google them and you should find them. Let me know if you don't.
Does anyone have a good trainer they can recommend in North County San Diego? While Gracie is extremely sweet/smart, she needs help with controlling her biting (especially with our kids) and we are trying to break the habit early.
Thanks!
Nicole...congratulations on your new little Gracie. I have one of Christy's standard F1 GDs who is 5 years old and her name is Gracie Doodle!!!! You are gonna just love these special Doodles!
Hi Everyone.
We just picked up Gracie from Christy two weeks ago. She was in a litter of 9 from Max & Georgia (born 5/17)/ I would love to find other litter mates in the area for her to play with so please contact me if you're part of this litter.
Thanks,
Nicole
