About Me:
My husband and I were born and raised in San Diego (Point Loma) and we have two adult children. Our daughter moved back to California with her husband 5 years ago after going to college and living in NYC for 10 years. They currently live in San Jose with Luna, their 4 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback. Our daughter and her husband have a beautiful baby girl. She is named Eowyn Casey Ahern!!! (Pronounced A-O-WYN). She just turned 1 year old on Easter Sunday! Our son and his wife along with our three grandsons (9, 7 & 5) and our 2 year old granddaughter live in Dover, MA just outside Boston. Gracie Doodle has filled a big hole in my heart that I have for my grand children living so far away. She has been the best possible therapy and makes me so happy and at peace with the distance. She makes my "TAIL WAG" all the time!!
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
I have an adorable F1 GoldenDoodle named Gracie. She will be 6 years old this May 18th. Her mother is an apricot standard poodle and father a golden. She is very tall (27") and lean and currently weighs 74 lbs. The sweetest and smartest dog there ever was. Totally human, sleeps in our bed right between us and is included in everything we do. I just can't imagine what life was like before we had her!! Gracie is obsessed with balls...preferably tennis balls! She likes to track them in the air and then with perfect timing, jump up and catch them. She could do this for hours if we let her. We have to keep her balls hidden when we are not supervising her because she likes to roll them in her water bowl and then take them in the dirt and roll them around until they are packed with mud...along with her paws and nose. She is a real Tomboy! Loves the water and stands in her water bowl when she drinks. Gracie is the happiest dog I have ever encountered. She is always smiling and kissing. She has a great sense of humor and is a goof ball. Very alert and nothing gets past her. She doesn't miss a thing! We take her with us every where we go and when we are traveling by car she goes with us. The pet friendly hotels we stay in love her and you wouldn't even know we had a dog in our room!! She keeps my husband and I laughing all the time and after all these years we still can't keep our hands off of HER!!! Hugs and kisses all the time!
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
Personality, no shedding, sweetness and looks.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
Cartoon Running in Snow
Myspace Glitter Graphics

Go on outings to the beach, mountains and take long walks. Watching her play with her friends and how they all interact. Taking her in the car. She stands on the center console and puts her head out the sunroof! Gracie has quite a few "best friends" and we have daily get togethers and pool parties on the weekends in our backyard (by pool...Toys R Us). There are as many as 8 dogs at any given time all playing in the water and yard.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
Nope!
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
I have started grooming her after learning the great tips from the "Grooming Group"
Favorite Doodle Products?
Tennis balls and the Hartz Balloon Animals. We call them her Monsters which she loves to carry all over the house squeaking them and throwing them at us to throw back to her.

Her other favorite toy is My Husband!!!

"GracieDoodle had fatty deposits and whenever we had teeth cleaned, while under, I had them removed.  She had a large one on her chest and as it got bigger she would press on it when she would lay down with her legs out straight.  We…"

Sweet GracieDoodle Passed Away February 21, 2018

Posted on May 16, 2018 at 5:35pm 39 Comments

With sad heartbreaking news our sweet beautiful intelligent silly best friend passed away from bloat 2 months shy of her 11th birthday.  She was the love of our life and moving on has been so hard.  I haven't posted in years on DK and just now have figured out how to get back to posting.  I did inform some of the people I know here through Facebook.  Graciedoodle was in the best of health, perfect athletic weight and very agile.  We have known about bloat since the day we brought her home so…

Another Gracie - The $$$$ Dog Only This Is GRACIE DOODLE

Posted on May 29, 2013 at 1:54pm 35 Comments

Those of you who have been with DK for the past 6 years pretty much know the things that Gracie Doodle either gets into or has had.  Thankfully, up until now, I have had Pet Insurance.  We have had two surgeries to remove Fox Tails from her front mitts paws, one to remove a Mexican Feather Grass seed from a turbine in her nose and a recent surgery to remove what turned out to be a calcium deposit on her hip due to Rattlesnake vaccine.  For…

GRACIE DOODLE'S HAPPY DAY!!

Posted on February 16, 2013 at 10:07pm 39 Comments

FINALLY…it has been a long 10 months but finally I can come up for air and say that Gracie Doodle is back to her old self, healed and happy!!  YAY  It has been a long tearful journey but now the light at the end of the tunnel is burning bright and our sweet, silly, goofy, loving and happy girl has returned to us.  We are now down to 5 mg of Prednisone every other day for the next month and then she is off the medication completely.  The vet said that she has a 70% chance that the…

The Importance of Pet Insurance For Your Doodle!

Posted on August 28, 2012 at 11:52am 14 Comments

As I sit here and read more and more about all the poor Doodles that are going through various types of medical issues, one thing keeps coming to mind...MONEY!  I honestly can say that one of the best things I have done for Gracie Doodle was to get Pet Insurance.  I only wish I had done it when she was a puppy but I was not yet a member of DK and was not up to speed on this type of thing.  I always sort of assumed I would have a very healthy dog and any of the regular stuff I could pay for.…

Well, Nancie, how is it going with NellieDoodle?  Is she a good puppy?  It will be hard to live up to Gracie's reputation, but I'm sure will make a good attempt.

How is NellieDoodle working out?  I still would love your take on your heart dog - and I assume that will always be Gracie.  A short little story and photos of her (and you if you like).  I will be making the book sometime this fall and as usual a Smilebox first (free) and then a Shutterfly book.

Oooh, that is very soon.  Keep me posted.  I did the same with Chica.  There were two dogs in the litter with a lot of white and I did not care which one we got.  The other dog had the eyebrows, but Chica was the more mellow puppy and our breeder picked her for us.  She is from the same breeder as Groucho Too and I wanted to replace him.  He was a phantom goldendoodle and Chica is a sheepadoodle but both fathers were a phantom standard poodle.  My best wishes for your introduction to your new puppy.
