Hi everyone... I thought it would be fun to share our doodle's fun and quirky habits!

I start us off with one of Shelby's quirky habits.... after showering - Shelby has to help out and give me her own bath on my ankles and lower legs!   She just has to make sure I got everything!

Alfie comes to me when he's finished breakfast and burps, just to let me know how much he enjoyed his meal. (I read somewhere that after-meal burping is one of the doodle breed standards.)
That is funny!
Cody does this too! I didn't associate it with any breed behavior...just thought he was a hearty eater!
Sadie does that!! It's hilarious, and not very lady-like.... as she sounds like a drunk man in a bar after his last beer!
Cody does this too! He usually lays on the rug in the bathroom while I'm showering and then starts licking me dry when I get out!
nots sure how quirky this is, but I juice carrots every morning for myself. Cody will come into the kitchen when he hears the juicer going and sit for a carrot tip (ones I cut off the carrot). He loves carrots! Since he is not allowed people food in general, I make a little behavior training out of it, and make him sit for it. He thinks it's a real treat, and I don't think an occasional little nub of carrot will hurt him.
Flannery is the first mom I've ever had that takes Ken's dirty socks and puts them in the pen with her puppies. Actually I think this is a great idea and very smart of her. Her puppies have a nearly constant source providing a human's smell inside their little den. I wonder if that is why she puts the socks in there?
Thanks for starting this Shelby! I was thinking of starting a similar thread. Fozzy has several quirks that our former dog never had. Here are some that Ali and I compiled:

1) He howls like a sad hound dog when the answering machine plays. It is the saddest sound you've ever heard!
2) He watches TV and notices things on TV that other dogs would notice in real life--birds, squeeky dog toys, other barking dogs.
3) When he comes out of his crate or when someone comes home, he always brings a toy. They say he even does this at his kennel when we board him!
4) He also burps after he eats. I think that is because we make Fozzy finish his meal all at once--our old dog was a free feeder and just nibbled throughout the day--no burps.
5) He has to be the center of attention. If someone is reading on the sofa he likes to put himself between the reading material and the reader. If I'm typing at the computer he comes over and pushes my arm with his nose so I end up involuntarily petting his head.
6) If there is anything new or different in the house--especially holiday decorations--Fozzy notices and barks at it.
7) He NEVER tires of playing fetch. I know this isn't really quirky, but it is new for us. Our old puppy was not a retriever.
8) When he is tired, Fozzy loves going to his crate--unless I am at the computer, then his spot of choice is right at my feet under my desk!
9) In the morning when he comes out of his crate, he has to run and check on everyone in the house before he will settle down.
10) I really need to upload a sound-bite for this, but when we come home--and he has that toy in his mouth, he makes this hysterical whine/huff sound and nearly wags his tail right off! That one needs to stop, actually. I'm pretty good at ignoring it, but Ali can't help but respond, just as Fozzy intends!

Whew! After I thought of five, I figured I'd better do a top ten--there you go!
Oh wow Michelle...#5 is definitely an inherited trait from his mom!
Wow, Cassie also watches TV. She goes crazy over even a silent video or even photo or drawing of a dog. She's usually totally quiet in the house unless there's a dog on the screen, then she makes these funny low-pitched whiny sounds. I read that newer flat panel TVs are easier for a dog to see. She even comes running each time she hears anything playing on my computer (since half the stuff I watch is dog-related).
These are funny. Alfie, too, always comes to me and burps after his meal...even if someone else feeds him! He's an untiring fetcher also, and...yes...likes to be the center of attention. His favorite place to rest is usually wherever I am, curled up at my feet, seemingly asleep but surprisingly ready to spring into action at the slightest hint I'm going somewhere!

One of my favorite "quirks" of his is that when he encounters something loud/possibly scary on our walks (loud machinery, etc.), he doesn't shrink or run away. Instead, he sits, looks at me to see what I think about it, and watches as if he's trying to "figure it out." I love that!
Both Riley and Kielah love to sleep on their backs, legs splayed and full belly exposed. Riley loves to sleep UNDER his doggie bed, not ON it. He'll burrow underneath until at least his head is covered and fall fast asleep. Kielah talks to me in dog speak all the time, even when she's dreaming!
