I am going to start making my own dog cookies for Bailey. Does anyone have any grain free treat receipes? I have been looking, but having trouble finding them...
Thx

Roberta, the Little Liva Drops use oats but you could substitute more eggs, or anything that is acceptable in the diet, that will bind them together. The main ingredient is the liver. That's what the dogs will flip out over. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
Liva Drops
4 cups quick oats
1 cup cooked and chopped beef or calves liver
1/4 cup beef broth
4 large eggs
1. Preheat over to 350 degrees
2. Mix everything together
3. Use rounded teaspoon and make round balls onto greased cookie sheet
4. Bake 10-15 minutes until golden brown
5. Let cool and store in airtight container in refrigerator.
Make a double batch because they will go crazy over these.
Look through the treats discussion and there may be other substitutions you can do.
I know with the oats, my dogs act like it is doggie crack or something. If your dog can eat oats, they are easy and worth it. Just remember to refrigerate or freeze them. If your dog can eat fish, you can make these with fish, too. I didn't have liver one time and made them with tuna and they went crazy, the same way. Let me know how it goes.
Some of the recipes in the other discussion can be made with chickpea or potato flour. our local bulk barn and health food stores sell them. Im going to give some a try!
I adapted one of the recipes in the other discussion to make it grain free
4 cups oatmeal (I used potato flour)
1 cup banana (I had to add another bananna)
1/2 cup peanut butter (I added another large dollup)
3/4 cup apple sauce (I added another dollup)
I spread it out on a greased pan, and scored lines down it. I tried to score across too but it just broke up. Cooked it for 20 mins at 350 F and left it in the oven to dry out. Then cut it into pieces
it was very dry, so maybe just use 2 cups flour and add more if needed. It took along time to dry out, and is very crumbly. They smell fantastic, but i tried one and it was disgusting , but Cooper loves them!
Sounds yummy enough for people, too.
