Thanks. Good thoughts. I'm trying go gather many opinions and thoughts before I spend the money on a new clipper. The one I currently have and have used for years on previous dogs finally just quit so I am in the market for a new one.
I have an Andis 2 also and only use blades on Tara. I keep her coat fairly short though. I use one to achieve about a half inch length on her body and use another to get a closer cut on her belly and some other areas. Due to the very soft and fine nature of her coat I never could get the combs to work well. It's probably more my inexperience then a problem with the combs though. So I just gave up and ordered another blade and that has worked well for us.
The clipper I have Wahl Arco is a 5 in 1 adjustable blade that also comes with 4 comb attachments. I use the adjustable blades (sizes 9, 10, 15 and 40) for between the pads of the feet, sani areas, etc. and then a couple of different combs for her her body, belly and legs. I accidentally broke my favorite comb, so I splurged and bought a new set of steel combs. They go through the hair much easier than the plastic combs.
