Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi! Has anyone tried the Furminator de-shedding brush?  I was considering purchasing it, but it's pretty expensive.  Just wondering if it's worth it.

Thanks,
Kim

I tried my daugther's on my doodles and they didn't do a thing. Lucy doesn't shed at all, and Ethel only sheds a tiny bit and they are all very tiny fine hairs.
Not for dogs that require haircuts. It's for shedding dogs with undercoats only.

I have one that I bought on Amazon for around $25.  It has a button on the back that pushes the hair out.  I actually really like it for our older goldendoodle who sheds a bit.  If I take him outside and brush him with it, I can get a pile of hair off that is maybe the size of a guinea pig that doesn't end up on my floor.  It can also be a help getting out mats on him.  On the other hand, our younger doodle doesn't shed at all and when I run it over him, it does nothing.  I would say that if you notice your doodle shedding, then it might be worth the money, but if you are lucky enough to have a doodle that doesn't shed, then a comb and slicker brush would be a better investment.

I know someone with a shedding goldendoodle and she said it helps a lot!  Her doodle looks like a flat-coated retriever and I guess she sheds like one also.  Anyway, it was highly recommended by her.  I've actually seen a Furminator at TJMaxx/Marshalls/Ross stores for lots less.
