Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
It has been so hot in Atlanta this month that I was really feeling sorry for Harlow. She just looked hot and miserable in her longer cut. So I took her to our groomer for her summer cut. The groomer came out and we chatted about how to cut Harlow and I don't know... something came over me. An overwhelming curiosity to see what Harlow's face looked like without her beard. I told the groomer forget everything we talked about and do a poodle puppy cut. She looked at me like I had lost my mind and said, " You want me to shave her face and throat and clip her feet?". I said, "Yes" and walked out of the shop before I could change my mind.
Here are some before shots that I got of Harlow (actually they are new path in progress shot that Harlow just happened to be standing in)...
Here are after her visit to the groomer. She is definitely feeling cooler.

She's adorable! I can't believe how much she looks like a poodle, though. I KNOW if I shaved Connor's face he would look just like a poodle, too. I look at my my guys when they're in the bathtub and realize if I gave them a poodle puppy cut, they would both be poodle dopplegangers ! :-) Strong genetics!
Doodle woofs and wags to Harlow!
Harlow looks beautiful either way...
So...she will be cooler for the hot weather...and you can see how you like the cut.
If you want it longer again...you know very well that her coat will grow...all too fast! Lol...
I think she looks beautiful and stately...but not Doodly...
I like it...
I think she looks stately too, but her expression looks so much more serious than her normal happy-go-lucky laughing face. It might be because she is not panting as much. :-o
She does look more comfortable and none of us wants our dogs to be miserable for our vanity.
Many of my wool guys would be poodles with a poodle cut but I had to shave Ami this year before she had her puppies in March and I totally had a lab on my hands. I liked her lab look a lot and would repeat it. She has a thinner coat, so needs some length in the summer to protect her.
I'm tempted to shave her sister Aquamarine, but when people come to pick up their puppies in a couple of weeks I think they will expect to see a labradoodle, not a lab. lol
