Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi, all! I've heard a lot of Les Pooches brushes, and I've seen the price tag, but I haven't really been told WHY they are so highly recommended and so high priced. What makes them different from any other brush out there? Is there a less expensive, but equally good product out there (whether it be designed for dogs, people, or horses...or whatever.) Thanks!

I have yet to find a brush as good as Les Pooch for brushing my doodles. As a professional groomer, I have tried a few. The Les Pooch brushes have rounded pins that do not scrape your dog's skin. You can buy a brush suitable for the coat on your dog. The best one for my fine wool coated dogs is the finest yellow one. It really grabs the dead hair in the coat and removes it. I use it first, then comb and then brush again to pull out what the comb loosened. They are guaranteed if you ever have a problem and I have heard that some of the look-a-likes fall apart. I am sure others can come up with some other reasons why they are great.
Hey, wait a minute...I am looking at my $50+ Les Pooch Pro Brush Firm Bristle/Firm Flex magenta or purple colored one and there are no "rounded" pins. In fact, when I am brushing my Goldendoodle and hit my hand I get punctured!!! The brush actually has drawn blood from me! It also scrapes my skin badly so I can only imagine what it does to the dog. I love the way the coat looks afterward and how well it goes through the hair, but I am really not very aggressive with the brushing because I am so afraid of hurting Gracie's soft skin. She is an F1 Goldendoodle but does not have dense or wooley hair. She is wavy on the body and then curly in the neck area. You can go to my page if you want to look at her hair and that way you will get a better understanding of what type of coat I am talking about.

When I was inquiring about brushes just like you this is the one that was recommended to me.
I love the brush - i use it on my Doodle, my tiibetan Terrier and some of the dogs I pet sit for. it is great and does in one stroke ( gently) that it would take 6 with another brush. I've tried them all but this really grabs the hair, and you can brush through the coat so much faster. I don't brush roughly - or too fast - it isn't necesary and it makes for a really nice experience for everyone.
Hi,
My groomer recommended a brush that looks just like it from PetsEdge. I got one for under ten dollars plus shipping of course. I also was wondering what the difference was. There are two available, I got the firm one, a friend got the soft one, she loves hers, mine works well but I think I may have preferred the softer style, Mitzi really doesn't like being brushed at all. I have even used soft bristle brushes on her. They are about all she
is comfortable with but they don't work well.

Does anyone else have the same brush?
I just went to a grooming show and bought one of these brushes because of all I heard about it on this site. I had a standard poodle and I know to well about mats and I just didn't want to have to shave down my doodle for the same reason. So far so good but in all fairness she has her summer cut right now so her hair is not to long.
I have the purple and the red matt blaster~ I dont really care for the matt blaster. The double purple that I have works well but I dont feel that they are very ergonomic. My arm tires quickly when I use it but it does do a nice job.
