Bayley will turn 6 months old next week. I have only trimmed around her eyes when the hair starts to cover them up. But tonight when I trimmed a few wayward strands to open up her eyes, I noticed that her eyelashes are way long and curling in front of her eyes. Do you trim the eyelashes as well?

Monty always loses his gorgeous eyelashes when he gets groomed. I don't groom him myself, though.

I do, if not they get sooooo long the can get stuck in the natural draining of her eyes.

Ollie's eyelashes grow out and up so I tend to leave them when I groom him.  When they get too big and full I trim them just a bit.  If they were getting into his eyes though I wouldn't let them grow as long as I do now.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will trim them up a bit when DH is home to hold her still.

Some do some don't.

This was her graduation photo from Puppy Level 2. I just LOVE this dog.

I have Sadie groomed and sometimes they windup cutting off her eyelashes.  They curl out and up, away from her eyes but she does have hair around her eyes that does the same thing like in your photo and they try to trim it...we never had it long enough to try combing out of the way.

Could she be any cuter???

My vet, who owns poodles, said that poodle eyelashes often need to be trimmed because they can curl back around and either grow into the eye or into the eyelid.  So I watch Paddy's carefully and trim when necessary.  No big deal.

Bayley is so gorgeous.  I don't trim Riley's lashes and they are very long but they sweep to the sides of his eyes.  I would not like them trimmed at all.  Eyelashes have a job to protect the eyes and unless they are actually inverted or curling into the eyes I don't think they should be touched.  Just my personal opinion though : )

Coope hates being groomed so i try to do it as quick as possible, so her eyelashes do often get cut
