This is what I got back. They even did this fox tail thing to her tail when I said do not trim her tail. I am buying a grooming table, dryer, and all the tools needed to learn and groom at home. Maybe to save time she can go get a bath and a brush out but I think hat may be the extent out outside grooming for sophie. The it will grow back in ad we can try again line came up. It took all my strength to not reach over with clippers shave a line down her head and say don't worry honey it will grow back. If you cant do what the customer wants be honest before you try to cut not after.

I am so sorry! This seems to be the story of many doodle owners....including me. I spoke at length with the last groomer that did this, and we can to an understanding that might also help you. Nellie Bly is now on a maintenance plan: she goes in every three weeks for a bath and comb, but no cut. We have had 4 appointments, and all is well thus far. I feel your pain. Sophie is beautiful!
I agree that she is still adorable, but I would be livid too. I don't get it. How can they not give you what you want, or say "I'm sorry, we can't do that", and let you go elsewhere. So sorry!
She's still pretty. A lot of us have been there and feel your pain. You can tell that Sophie isn't too happy with it, either. If you didn't take in a photo of what you wanted this time, you can try that next time, but if you can groom her yourself, that may be the way to go. At least you get to enjoy the velvety softness of the coat for now, while you watch it grow back in.
Oh I had the photo of the white doodle with a list of things I wanted to add or not have done. They just seemed to ignore them all lol
Oh, gosh. If you gave them that photo, she should have come out at least a little closer to that look. Coats can be a little different between doodles, but the white one isn't shaved, which is what it looks like they did to Sophie.
I COMPLETELY understand, believe me. I've had this happen to us a few times. :-) It does grow back, and she does look very adorable and soft anyways!
I can understand your feelings, but it will grow out quickly and she does look good (and cool for summer). My boys have never been to a groomer for these same reasons. I know what I like and how to get there. We have a grooming area set up in our laundry room (my request when my husband built a new garage and laundry room) and double sinks with adjustable water temps and a sprayer. Take it slowly for both you and the dog. We sometimes spend days on a groom and take turns with the scissors and clippers. Baths are too frequent since they share our house and bed, but we are all used to it. Take your time and build up to it slowly. It is well worth the experience for you and your doodle.
She's still adorable but you're right, that's not the picture! They should have used a 1.5 or 2 " clipper for her body, then trimmed her with a scissors around her head, ears, legs and tail. I totally get how you feel. It will grow back pretty fast though and you'll have a fuzzy girl again soon :)
Totally understand but, as many have said, it grows out really quickly. We had just shaved down Tuggy for the summer and had to go out of town for 4 days and, in that short amount of time, he's grown back into a really cute length and you can't see the missteps in our self-taught grooming we had just done on him. We do love how he feels now, too!
Did the groomer give any reason for going so short? Sometimes if they're matted really badly that's what they will do, shave them down. I think all of us who have had professional cuts have experienced this at least once, and it is disheartening, especially if you've been very specific about what you want. My solution was to just keep going to new groomers until I finally found one that listened. It took a total of 3 before finding one. Even then I didn't like the way her head was shaped, but her body was cut perfectly so I stuck with the groomer. Working together we finally got the cut I wanted (it took a few grooms before getting there, though). If you're really up for doing all the grooming yourself, then more power to you. It just wasn't something I was willing to take on. Here's pics of Lucy's 'bad' cut, and what we finally got to with her latest groomer. BTW, your doodle still looks very cute, regardless.
Wow, what a difference a good groomer can make.
I just don't think she paid attention to what I wanted done. On every picture I gave her it said Do not trim her tail and she did. She did have mats on her front feet from the caths and tape ironically those areas are the longest on her body. The ears are long and should have been short. everything that could have been done wrong was.
