Shaving.
I know, I said it. It seems like the word is taboo, and I've definitely gotten the impression from some Doodle acquaintances that shaving your Dood is a faux pas. But, I'd be a bad dog owner if I didn't do it. Murphy's a black goldendoodle, which means he overheats easily, even with AC blowing out icicles. I've had to cut him really, really short in December, which is crazy. To save time between trips to the groomers, I get him cut as short as he can go...during the summer, anyways. If he has to be cut in December, he gets the longer puppy clip.
I hate losing those gorgeous layers. Every time he gets shaved, my boy looks like he loses 50 lbs. and everyone wants to overfeed him because he's so skinny. Plus, he doesn't look like a Doodle anymore!! He feels good, though, so I'm learning not to complain.
So, the reason for this post:
If you've had your Doodle shaved, post a pic! We can't laugh at them when they walk out of the groomers, but we can definitely smile about their new 'do while they're asleep and chasing bunnies.
This picture is from last year, right after Murphy turned one (he was so little in these pictures!!). It was his first ever Big Summer Shave! He was embarrassed as he walked out of the groomers (I silently freaked out...HIS HAIR!) but felt better once everyone complimented him on his choice of baseball teams. Number one fan, right here! =)
Before.
After. Murphy was sleeping with his head against the wall, which is why the top looks flat. O_o
