Lorraine, this is such an amazing story! I am so glad that you found out what the problem was and have your son back!! I know that our lives have been made much easier with chemicals and products made from them but sometimes I wonder if the price is just too high in terms of what it is doing to the human body/mind and the environment.  DH and I have been trying to detox heavy metals and chemicals for the last few years.  DH was heavily contaminated with lead, which I think most people probably are due to all the lead that entered the environment during the years when gasoline was leaded. He also was contaminated with carbon-tetra-chloride which is the "mother of all chemicals" and highly toxic. It has been banned from household use due toxicity but is still used commercially. He was exposed when fire retardant was air dropped on a wildfire near our house a couple of years ago. He got exposed to the "drift" and became very ill.  Here is a link to one of the products that we use pretty much on a regular basis because I think that we are all being constantly re-exposed just from living in an industrialized society.

This product has actually been researched and proven to be effective in removing heavy metals. It does not removed chemicals such as herbicides, pesticides, clearners, etc. ). But often heavy metals (mercury, uranium, copper, lead, etc.) are responsible for weakening one's system and making it more reactive to chemicals. Here are some of the case studies:

http://resultsrna.com/research/acz_nano_patient_1.php

(This is one study but more are availabe to view from the left hand column)

I can't help but wonder how much physical and mental illness and behavioral issues are a result of chemical or heavy metal toxicity in our society.

Also, according to our doctor the best way to get chemicals out of the body is to SWEAT!  So get those jogging clothes out ladies!! LOL! Or better yet, buy a sauna!! :)

Okay, one more link. This is to an article about newborn babies. Their umbilical cord blood was tested and each infant had over 200 chemicals in it's blood before it was even BORN!! That's crazy!!!

Sorry about the rant!! I guess you can tell this is a big issue for me!! :)

I must also tell you guys about chemicals affecting the body. My middle son has been putting us through hell since he finished highschool. When he started school and full time work and living on his own. He was a big momma's boy so when he started acting different it broke my heart. We thought he was on drugs, he had various health problems from shingles, sleep and breathing problems, Joint pain, stabbing stomache pain that he wouldn't be able to stand upright that sent him to the er. He vomited everyday sometimes several times a day. And more. Over the last five years his personality completely changed for the worst. All medical tests came back fine. Then he started to refuse medical help. I wanted him to try counseling as I thought he was having mental health issues. Long story short my husband googled mercury poisoning and BAM there was my son listed on every possible symptom for mercury poisoning. He ate about a can of tuna a day once he started taking his lunches to work. That is why it started after highschool. We went to the DR and he has stopped all tuna and cannot eat lake fish either. He quit tuna in December and he has become the son I used to have in that short of time. He went jeckle and hyde or visa versa. Thankfully the tests show that he doesn't have permanent brain damage. As he was having mental problems it is lucky we found it at that time as he could have suffered permanent damage and I NEVER would have gotten my baby boy back! So chemicals can lurk everywhere. Hope everyone is well and check out mercury poisoning and watch for anyone in your life that eats a large amount of fish or is in a mercury line of exposure. Hope everyone is well.

You're welcome Jennifer. I'm interested in knowing what you think of it. And as for the name well, you are not the first and probably not the last to make that mistake! I guess Ricki sounds like a good dog name!! Woof!  Hope you are feeling better today!!

Jennifer, I totally understand about cleaning chemicals! Have you heard of this one?

The smell is a bit strong for me but it is nothing like clorox/chlorine. Also, I heard they are coming out with a version that has less odor. Maybe it is already out. I'd like to give it a try.

Thanks Tara... I agree, Chemicals play a very large roll in a lot of people's breathing and in mine they are huge.... My house is as chemical free as possible, except for certain cleaning products. I am trying to get rid of but I am an OCD cleaner and I need to know that germs are killed because if there are any around...they will find way to my lungs or sinus cavities.

I cared for a gentlman that had extremely bad rheumatoid arthritis in a nursing home. He had a full mattress topper that was imbedded with magnets. He swore by it. I wouldn't have wanted to sleep on it. It was awful if you ask me. I don't really believe in the magnetic therapy. But to each his own, if it works for you all the best. Yes the sensitive people may have issues with breathing because of environmental sensitivities.

Ehlers can be Nasty. It is frustrating for sure. I am lucky in that we have the best kind you can get. You always have to think that there are others in alot worse shape than yourself at any given time. I do have alot of anger towards it though. I couldn't do work yesterday. I am trying to improve my sick time this year so it ticks me off to have to  call in. I did too much on Sat so paid for it monday. Oh well I am all rested up to go out for supper with our friends tonight. But it atleast had Ehlers mentioned so the more hear about it the more people may be helped by it. I love the house shows.
