I cannot believe that I allow Samantha to sleep on our bed! Our Beardie wasn't allowed upstairs in our room to sleep until she was a year old, didn't have roam of the house when we weren't home until she was two and NEVER ate human food. much less be fed from the table (which only happened here in Florida when we were out at a restaurant).
We drove to Florida instead of lying so Samantha could be with us. With Maggie, she stayed home with our daughter's friend who moved into our home while we were away.
I have broken every rule I have made regarding a dog in our home. I guess the 'rules' don't seem to be as important today as they did when I had kids at home and schedules to keep.
my pups are my kids now!!! they have run of the house. i'm am even planing to have a birthday party for them in april. (never have done anything like that before) both have the same date. april 15. rudie will be three & corbin 1. i adoted both of them. rudie from south carolina & corbin from virginia.
Samantha had her first birthday paw-tee at a posh restaurant here in Florida. Her boyfriend, BeauBeau, invited her to dinner but asked the DP along as chaperones and credit cards. That's where I took the picture I posted above with DH feeding her from the table. I can't imagine where her second birthday paw-tee will be held.
Good grief - let me count the ways! For one thing, this dog has about 500% more toys and gear than all the dogs of my younger years (just 3 actually). He even has a seasonal collar wardrobe now!! LOL
He does not sleep on the bed or furniture though. And he does not eat people food (we didn't want to encourage begging behavior). Poor thing, huh?!!
Oh, I forgot the collar, coats, tee shirts wardrobe - the Philadephia Eagles shirt, collar, leash and hoodie. Oh yeah, the Yankee collar and leash, The Philadephia Flyers collar and leash. I would be remiss if I didnt include the collars I got for her with her name and my cell embroidered on it (ragtimepetcollars.com if anyone is interested). Toys!! OMG - Samantha came to lie with us May 1st. For Fathers Day I bought DH a pair of driving loafers. He stubbed his toe on one of her millions of toys left out on the den floor and he had a fit. I reminded him that his shoes hadn't been touched by puppy teeth because of all the toys. But I did put half of them back in her toybox! He never complained since.
LOL - the toys! Same here Adrianne! It looks like a toddler lives here half the time and I have almost experienced death by dog bone numerous times - they seem to blend in with the rug and floor and I almost fall when I step on one of them. That's okay though!! All in the name of doodle love!
Our apartment in MB, FL is a studio. A large studio but still 1 room. Her toy box is no different here than home in NJ - she just doesn't have a million here. They are all over the floor but the nylabone with the blue center is a killer of toes!
When our daughters were in elementary school we had a minature dachshund. She thought she was the pack leader of our family ( not a fun situation ). At the time I was too busy raising 2 very active little girls to properly train a puppy. When I made the decision to add a Labradoodle many years later (our dachshund had been gone for 10 years) I was determined to do things differently. I have read everything I could get my hands on conserning training and raising a happy & healthy dog. We ended up getting 2 doodles and so far things are going well. It's very satisfying to live with dogs who are in the proper pack order and it's my extreme pleasure to train and spoil them.
