End of another season

I take various photos of my garden areas throughout the year and thought it would be interesting to see the some shots of the same spaces at different times. Here's my front garden in spring and just today as I finished cleaning up for winter. I still need to plant some giant allium bulbs but that will be it for this year.

Oh how I love spring.

Now that does look dreary. I took out, or rather DH, dug out the overly large forsythia that never should have been planted there in the first place.

Now the front entrance in early summer:

And just today, we still have some Halloween stuff to put up and the pumpkins to carve:

Oh well another wonderful year of gardening. Now for my favourite activity during winter, planning new things for next year's garden.

Gorgeous border and garden. Right now my garden, which thankfully got pruned a bit, looks like mid February. A heavy, very wet snow is coating everything and we have several inches already. Most of my big trees had lost most of their leaves. The smaller ornamental maples didn't and we'll see how they fare. When I was out about an hour ago I could hear tree limbs snapping from the heavy wet snow. It is bizarre for this time of year!

I'm not sure taht would help. I'm hoping that the melting and wind will do the job and that we don't have a real freeze tonight.

I'd never heard of this. Neat grass. Too bad it's an annual.

Beautiful garden. I HAD a beautiful garden then I got my Doodles. I am now replacing most of the plants the dogs found interesting and dug up. Maybe someday  ,I have been putting more plants on the deck slowly and they are leaving them alone.Just curious little pups. Again your garden is beautiful.
