Hi several of you offer internet garden sites. Are there any that you have ordered successfully from? I have ordered twice from two different sites and the plants that were suppose to grow in my zone have not transplanted successfully - and not due to dog interference. If you have had success where did you order from and do you have any tips that are different than just transplanting something you bring from a local nursery?
A local nursery is good because they'll have things that will thrive locally for the most part. I do notice here that some nurseries don't warn people that all the plants will not be hardy for the area. The mail order places give you access to a much broader variety of plants. I get lots of catalogs but Iike Bluestone Perennials.I ordered this winter from Big Dipper Farm so I'll let you know how that goes. A wonderful resource is Dave'sGardens. You can find reviews of mail order sites, where to get a certain plant etc.
My sister orders Her things from "QVC" on TV. We live in PA. and the things she gets turn out beautiful. You can go on their site and order from there and they ship it when it is ready to be planted. This is mostly bulbs, bushes, sm. flowering trees. I think the Company is called "Cottage Gardens" that they deal with.
