I started a new discussion because F wanted a picture of what is called milkweed in SoCA.  It is an asclepias or however that is spelled.  I couldn't find where the question was so that is why I started a new discussion.  Also I got a camera for Mother's Day and I am learning to use it all by myself.  Think kindergarten, going into first grade.  My husband is the photographer, but I would really like to be able to snap, save and put in an album my small little pictures.  I am plagued by a short attention span for this stuff/ie using new programs.....So here is my first try.  Milkweed yellow and Milkweed yellow and red.  Not making pods yet.  Can't caption pictures yet either.

Love these Maryann. They are very different than our regular old milkweed.

This is what I was expecting to see. The CA version is very pretty and very different!

I did NOT know that these plants were milkweed.  Aren't they pretty?

Not only are they pretty, they are tough.  Don't need tons of water, bloom nearly all year round.  Don't get any funky stuff on them.

This doesn't look like the milkweed I am familiar with either.

Now that was very interesting. Thanks. I especially liked that species have evolved that grow faster than the caterpillars can eat them.
