Coop eats Dr. Harveys. I'm going to increase his meals and see if I can't get a little more weight on him. You're right about the benefits of the digestive enzyme. I no longer give him the enzyme in pill form but now add yogurt and cottage cheese to his food along with salmon or flax oil for his coat. I've read really good things about Fromm. And it's made locally which is always a good thing. Thanks for your thoughts on this.
Now I have another question. Cooper has fur about 5 inches long, the base of which is very curly and the ends are straight. Does this mean he will eventually have curly hair? Do puppys have one kind of hair and adults have another?

Hmm, interesting. Rusty eats 1 and 1/2 cups twice a day. We cut him down from 4 cups a day just recently. Poor guy having all those tummy problems. I don't know what you are feeding him, but Rusty eats Fromm, or Canidae. He really seems to like Fromm. It's a 5 star dog food and there is nothing artificial, and no fillers, and no ingredients that would aggravate allergies. Maybe if he wasn't absorbing everyting he was eating, he didn't put on as much wieght. You can also try digestive enzymes. We used them for a while when Rusty was having some borderline diarrea at one time. It really worked to firm everything up and after a while he was fine. Food makes a big difference. Maybe these guys have more sensitive stomachs. Cooper has the cutest face, by the way!

Cooper eats 10 oz. twice a day. He had a problem with diarrhea for most of his puppyhood - was on antibiotics 4 times and tried 3 different foods. Finally found a food that agrees with him. I am wondering if his growth is a bit delayed because of his food issues.

yes, he grew fast. It was like a teenage growth spurt! How much does Cooper eat per day? I keep promising to post new picutures and I will very soon!

At 4 months Cooper was 25 lbs., so if the formula is accurate you are right on with your prediction. Wow, Rusty doubled his weight in 2 months time...that's incredible.

We had Rusty neutered at 6 months and he weighed 50 lbs.At 4 months he weighed 25 lbs. They say that you can roughly double their weight at 4 months and that's a good indicator of how big they will be. Well, we exceeded that by 15 pounds. If Copper is 32 at 6 months, maybe 50 lbs or so?

At nearly 6 months of age Cooper is 32 lbs. I am wondering if he too will be big like his daddy Gromit. Any predictions?

OH, we are familiar with the hydrogen peroxide! Rusty has swallowed 2 pairs of underwear and a sock over the past 10 months.. We were told to have him throw it up so it doesn't cause him damage in his gut. He also chewed up a bone-whole, in one sitting, and the vet told us the same thing, have him throw it up so it doesn't hurt his insides. ( He swallowed some big pieces.) SO needless to say, he doesn't get anything like that anymore. I'm way to overprotective!

Oh Rusty is NO dainty eater. If he could swallow the TV remote whole, he would! (He's actually not a big chewer of things in the house, thank goodness.)
I usually break up the banana into smaller peices just so he doesn' choke, or here's something fun, we freeze sliced up apples in a container of broth or water, and let him try to get to the apples. It's good for outside, or if you can keep him in an area you don't mind getting a little wet from the ice . It will keep him busy for a while and he loves it. I agree, Rocco sounds like he's topped out at his ideal weight. Rusty is slim too, actually. His fur makes him look big!
By the way, stay away from grapes. They are supposed to be bad for dogs-and raisins, too.

Wendy,
Thanks! I had no idea. I know about chocolate, onions and a few other things, but didn't know about grapes or raisins. I'll share that with my sister as well. Her Westie loves grapes. I guess Rocco is smarter than I am. Thanks again, Sara
