Is there anyway to guess what my Goldendoodle will weigh as an adult???

Ok, I figured it was time I signed up for this group because Thomas is growing so fast. My huge puppy probably weighs in at about 45 lbs @ 5 months old. His paws are big and round. He climbs onto our lap like a 10 lb lap dog!! So cute. Anyway-at what age do they reach their adult weight. Someone told me to take their weight at 4 months and double it. He weighed 37 lbs. then. If he is going to be a 90 ponder, we will have to really work on the jumping up because I am sure he will knock us down by then. Any suggestions? Also-he is young but likes to surf the counters in the kitchen!!! I keep on him and he knows this is bad but sometimes- he will run off with something-so far no food because we don't leave anything out but the other day I found my paring knife on the couch!!I will be more careful in the future.

The "formula" is take the 4 month weight and double, then add 10 lb. It's usually close, but not a definite!
He is a cutie.
The "formula" worked for Murphy. he was 40 lbs at 4 months and weighs 92 now.
I was more concerned/surprised/awed at his height...28 at the shoulder, official measurement for trials.
We run with the Rhodesian Rigdebacks and Great Danes. Not exactly what I was expecting...
I have also heard to double the four month size and that will be pretty close to the year old size. But then many dogs gain weight after one year and I think that is the extra 10 pounds. It worked for my two dogs. Both have gained about ten pounds as adults. They are big (90 and 107 pounds) but as sweet as can be. Enjoy your big dog.
Hi Cheryl, the litter of dogs that Thomas came from consisted of 10 puppies. We had told the breeder that we wanted a fluffy fleece coated male that was apricot in colour. Well there were two to choose from. She also told us that they would be between 50-60lbs as an adult and she has been doing this for years so we thought that would be fine. We were used to a 34 lb wheaton terrior that had just passed away-so we thought an extra 20 lbs. was no big deal. Well we ended up picking the male that was almost twice the size of the other puppies, thinking that it was just his BIG HAIR that was making him look so big. Well at 7 mths old-he weighs well over 60 lbs and that was when he was weighed 3 weeks ago. I think he grew again over the weekend for heavens sakes-he just keeps getting bigger and bigger. When I did that formula at four mths-it worked out to be 95 lbs!!! We were not prepared for a humungas dog, But he is ours and we LOVE him no matter what. I actually am excited now to see how big he will be. There are a lot of us on DK with dogs ranging from 4-9 mths old. It will be interesting to see how their weight turns out in 6 mths.
Yep, counter surfing is a big problem with tall dogs. Everything is just at nose level and it is so enticing. Both our dogs walk by the table and sniff to see what we are having for dinner, but they never snatch anything. We try to put anything they are to have in their bowls after we have eaten. They love table scraps but know that they do not get fed from the table. Counter surfing is the same. They look, but do not touch. Of course it is very interesting to them with their great noses. I would say to keep things put away when you are not there to supervise and never give them treats from the counter or the table. One of our friends' dog snatched a piece of salmon off the BBQ and he was much smaller than our dogs. It's funny when someone else's dog does that (same as for kids) but you wouldn't want your own dog to do it. Enjoy your big pups. All the more to love.
Wahooo! I have just added a discussion about my HUGE puppy and I've found this one! Your pup at 4 months weighed the same as Bingley does (37 pounds!)...

I too was wondering how big he'll get as I've never seen a pup this big (that wasn't a GIANT breed!).

More doodle to love I guess... =)
What a cute name; "Bingley" I love it. Well since I posted the comments above Thomas is now 21 1/2 mths old and we had him at the vet last week and he wighed in at 94.6 lbs. This is him last Christmas and he is even bigger now but let me tell you he is the sweetest, kindest gentleman dog we have ever known. He doesnt even seem that big to us...he is our world now that our sons have moved out.

Love that glove in his mouth.
Yes this is my son in the picture with him and he grabbed a glove to bring to him when he came in that day. A prize for his brother I guess...think that is the retreiver in him! Can't remember if he chewed it up after that though... he really likes to chew leather gloves!
